Though school officials, nutritionists, parents, and students have decried First Lady Michelle Obamas school lunch program, the $1 trillion CRomnibus (part continuing resolution and part omnibus) does not include relief from the unpopular meals standards after all. Daren Bakst at The Daily Signal notes that the spending bill does not include, as was anticipated, a temporary waiver, so that schools could get some relief from the onerous standards.

Keep eating your vegetables kids. Nice going GOPe. We voted in Nov to end this Washington overreach but you stabbed us in the back only a little over a month after the election. Couldn't you wait until after Christmas?

Politicians like to do things for “the little people” (no offense to midgets, dwarves, etc.) just before Christmas. It’s a Santa Claus thing with them. Ho! Ho! Ho!

In a few years, some of these kids will be voters. Many more to follow.
The GOP should include in every election campaign a reminder of what the rat party did to them as schoolkids, and project that abuse into their adult lives.

If the democrats controlled the house and senate, what would be different?

“We voted in Nov to end this Washington overreach but you stabbed us in the back only a little over a month after the election.”
The people we voted for in November will not take office until next year. This is a lame duck session including those who lost elections and those who said they’d retire (rather than face a challenge.) These sessions always gift us with something we don’t want. The Department of Education, with a horrendously big budget and no students, was a gift from a GOP lame duck group who had lost their majority. So, yes, both sides have their evil agendas.

Republicans have a virtually infinite capacity to learn the wrong lesson.
I would have to disagree. Republicans have learned very well. They have learned that they don't need to even pretend to be conservative, and still win. They have learned that they can win without our money, as long as they cater to business' demands for low-cost labor. They have learned that they can run (and govern) in overt opposition to constitutional conservatism, and a sizable portion of conservative-leaning voters will still vote for them, under the misguided strategy of the "lesser of two evils".
No, they learn their lessons very well. The problem is that the only difference between them (the majority of them, at least), and the neo-fascist left, is what lies they tell their constituents.

Why because they are Republicans and it’s their turn to control the money!
