Maybe Cantor could have made these arguments if he spent more time in the rarified environs of academia.
I notice a lot of the no votes against Boehner's bill were from Texas, Tennessee and Virginia

Agree Jim. He doesn’t owe the Tea Party, or, more specifically, the organizations that now control the Tea Party, and he certainly doesn’t owe the Republican Establishment a damn thing, considering how they all laughed him off when he went after Cantor.
...so he can say whatever he wants to, without having to look over his shoulder. The one concern that anyone in his position does have is being set-up for a criminal accusation. That’s about the only way anyone will silence him.
Anybody who knows what the word vacuous means already knows that.
