You do realize their training is the problem and its not for lack. SWAT training is all about weapons and using them on anything/one that gets in the way of ‘the mission’. Think military w/o the discipline.
Yes I do and that makes my point.
Any chief that allows that kind of training in the general force should be canned.
Departments should have only a very small group of men trained in SWAT and they should be brought into action only after a special set of conditions are met and then before launch the chief should personally be required to sign off on the action.
And held responsible for the results.
Unfortunately these days the police are there to “protect and serve” the STATE and then themselves. The average citizen has no place in that formula. There is an “us vs. them” attitude that is pervasive. All one needs to do is look at how the view us...as “civilians” not as their fellow citizens.
The presumption is that everyone has an UZI, AK or AR with Full Auto capability. The do a no-knock raid and you go for your weapon to protect yourself from invaders and then someone shouts “GUN” and you die in a hail of bullets.
over and over, this keeps happening, down to petty disputes over zoning ordinances.
