U.S. under fire over Senate's report on CIA torture

The United States on Wednesday faced criticism from the United Nations as well as governments that Washington often reprimands for human rights violations over a Senate report on CIA torture techniques in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Some U.S. allies, who could face embarrassment or legal liability for any role in the CIA's "enhanced interrogations" during the George W. Bush administration, either condemned the CIA's methods or played down any involvement their governments might have had in them.

"The CIA's practice of torture is gruesome," German Justice Minister Heiko Maas told German newspaper Bild. "Nothing justifies such methods. Everybody involved must be legally prosecuted."

I rise in solidarity with the United Nations. In the spirit of justice, I think the U.N. should shut down and relocate to North Korea.

Ha! Rooters. You’re so funny. Under fire? By who? YOU?

You seriously live in a parallel universe if you think American’s care about faux-torturing terrorists.

Why is anyone surprised that a LibDem would lob a grenade in the form of a biased and one-sided report just prior to their losing the majority in the Senate?

Note also how this redirects the headlines back to Bush and Company. We have now had 2 days of TERRORISM vs TORTURE on all of the newsies over information that is 12 years old.

Feinstein and Pelosi were complicit and fully informed and approved... besides dont terrorists forfeit their human rights just like they violated 3000 lives on 9/11 and contnue with rapes, chicld molesattions, torture and beheadings... Let’s solve that first... THREE EVIL SCUMBAGS WERE WARTERBOARDED... JSUT LIKE ALL THOSE WHO GO THROUGH SERE TRAINING... lets look at people jumping out of a 1/4 mile high building with their skin melting plummeting at terminal velocity hitting concrete and exploding... then let’s reevaluate the situation.. KSM is still alive and gaining weight and living a country club existence at government expense... Certainly he has nothing more to offer, so when does he get justice..??????? , Al Queda is doing just fine, and we created, supported and funded and trained isis so what could possibly be the reason for Feinstein to conduct a kanagroo hearing... pure unmitigated politics and she should be held accountable for the results and loss of life.... meantime her husband has a sweetheart no bid contract making millions selling/brokering us goverment real estate.... let’s look into that... let’s look into the insider trades...oh wait they made it legals for congress didn’t they...and oh by the way Dianne how many people did the drone attacks you condoned kill... how many innocent lives did you take... while waterbaording does no lasting harm...

Do we really need a morality lesson from Germany? Sorry but giving a fat, murderous Islamic punk some ensure and pouring water on his face pales in comparison to their historical legacy.

All this to shield that MIT guy.

Is it all worth it? In their little feeble Liberal brains it does not matter how many must die to promote their cause.

Dems screwed up royally which is to be expected but as far as the UN goes? Kick them out because no one with an ounce of sanity gives a damn about the UN.

The MSM and most cable news outlets are frantically trying to wipe the horrific election loss the Demonicrats suffered last month from everyone’s mind. They’re serving Kool-Aid from huge vats, trying to make the Dem base as upset about Bush once again and something similar with Katrina with the stuff in my tagline!!!

I don’t think the Dems are getting the reaction they wanted to this report AT ALL. Everything in it is their talking points from the mid-2000s. Nothing new at all. Just a stupid same-old same-old parting shot.

I agree 100%. The ‘blowback’ from its release has been more of a THUD than an explosion. Not at all what Feinswine intended. Even the bulk of the comments on lib websites have been in condemnation of RELEASE of the report, NOT in what the CIA did. People have awoken to the last 6 years of political stunts.

Waterboarding is not torture. Torture is driving gutter spikes into the bad guy’s knee caps and then attaching them to a phone ringer.

People have awoken to the last 6 years of political stunts.

That is a very important point, and in more than just politics, in the culture as well. People are tired of stunts; they want a return to some semblance of calm and normalcy.

This story is the media’s wet dream. Unabated America-bashing in the name of journalism.
