The Irish government is expected to accept a motion to be proposed by the opposition calling on parliament to recognize Palestine as a state, Reuters reports.
The decision follows the passing of a motion in Irelands upper house in October calling on the government to formally recognize a Palestinian state.
Members of parliament in the lower house are due to discuss the motion proposed by the opposition Sinn Féin party later on Tuesday and on Wednesday, according to Reuters. A government spokesman said it will not oppose the bill, meaning MPs will not be required to vote.
The motion calls on the government to officially recognize the State of Palestine, on the basis of the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital, as established in UN resolutions, as a further positive contribution to securing a negotiated two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Recognize them as terrorists.
What? No Ireland? Since when?
Sinn Féin has been the friend of the “Palestinian” terrorists for decades, so no motion broached by them would ever do such a thing.
Isn’t Sinn Fein an arm of the IRA?
About 1972, when Éamon de Valera signed the Third Amendment and handed over Irish sovereignty to th European Union, then known as the European Economic Community.
But even less so now, when its toy “government” accepts a motion from a bunch of terrorists on behalf of their terrorist allies.
Yes, their “political wing”. Just as Fatah is the “political wing” of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade and Hamas is the “political wing” of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. And per IRA murals in Belfast, they all share “one struggle”.
The IRA and the Palestinians have been somewhat of buds over the years, sad to say.
So, if one nation, recognized by Ireland etc. attacks another nation recognized by Ireland etc. with rockets and tunnels, then the second nation would be legally allowed to annihilate the first, right?
It’s just another one of those situations that will not be solved without the Churchill dictum.
Gaffaw!
One wonders what our good Irish friends have been smoking recently, to suffer from such hallucinations ?
Well, the Mexican national movement in the U. S. thinks along the same lines.
These folks aren’t attached at the hip for no reason.
They are part of a larger movement, that does a great job of staying below the radar is it agitates non-stop.
I had wondered about the Muslim population in Ireland, as I did some research and was shocked at what I saw...but it is easily accessible being in the EU...and all passports can go anywhere there. Other than that I haven’t kept up.
Thanks for the info.
This is so sad, as I see what it means...I guess my ancestors made the right decision to leave Ireland and Scotland...even England for a few. However, there are no new worlds to conquer.
The photo I linked has been on here a number of times, even before me.
James Connolly, incidentally, is a quite infamous communist. Lenin cited him as an inspiration for his own Bolshevik revolution, and even defended his failure during the Easter Rising by saying “No revolution is perfect!” which makes me shudder to think what Ireland might have been if Connolly succeeded (although it is indeed heading that way now).
Place noose around neck and kick out chair after securing hands. Nice Ireland.
