WARR ACRES — A longtime abortion doctor was arrested Tuesday morning at his clinic after an undercover investigation.

Dr. Nareshkumar Patel, 62, is accused of obtaining money by false pretenses three times since June at his Warr Acres clinic, Outpatient Services for Women.

Patel is most known for once burning aborted fetuses in a field.

An Oklahoma County judge authorized his arrest Monday. Prosecutors have 10 days to file a charge.

“I feel like our prayers have been answered,” said Bernadette Klein, a prayer volunteer at Holy Innocents’ Foundation of Oklahoma, which operates a chapel next door to the clinic.

The undercover investigation was initiated by the Oklahoma attorney general’s office after a complaint.

During the undercover investigation, three women posed as patients and visited the clinic for an abortion procedure. They were not actually pregnant.

Each time, Patel did an ultrasound, told the woman she was pregnant and gave her five abortion pills, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Each woman paid $620.

An investigator from the state medical board visited the clinic June 4, an Oklahoma City police detective visited the clinic Oct. 16 and an Oklahoma attorney general agent visited the clinic Oct. 21.

All three secretly recorded Patel, an attorney general agent, David Real, told the judge in the arrest warrant affidavit.

The complaint came from a sister of a former patient who paid $520 for a medical abortion procedure in August 2011. The former patient died four months later of cervical cancer. The doctor who cared for her at the time reported she had not been pregnant within the past year.

Patel has been the center of controversy repeatedly since getting his medical license in Oklahoma in May 1984.

In 1992, he was the focus of national attention for burning 55 aborted fetuses on fenced rural property east of Shawnee. He was not disciplined or charged with any crime for his action.

Patel told the state medical board he and his office manager took the fetuses to an abandoned recreational vehicle park he owned near Shawnee and he set fire to them on a gravel road.

He said a hospital had barred him from using its incinerator in 1990.

“...he and his office manager took the fetuses to an abandoned recreational vehicle park he owned near Shawnee and he set fire to them on a gravel road.”

It’s been a long time since I’ve been an Office Manager, but I sure don’t remember THAT being part of my duties!

Arrest her, too!

I hope they try him for murder in the case of the deliberately mis-diagnosed patient who really had cancer.

Maybe the office manager was supposed to bring the marshmellows and sticks.

I read about this earlier today here on FR. I’m not complaining about your thread. More people need to be informed.

In fact, burning fetuses by the side of the road was not even the worst thing he did. By a long stretch.

Here is the earlier thread that tells of his other ‘hobbies’ while performing abortions.

HORRIBLE! What about all the bureaucrats who let him off in previous cases? They all should be jailed too.

Again, the more this is spread , the better.

The article you posted doesn’t even mention the ‘bedside’ procedures the doctor gave to these women while they were restrained and drugged.

Or the ones he almost killed.
