If anyone wants to elect me Speaker of the House

That tickles my memory. Did I read somewhere (back about when Newt was Speaker) that you actually didn't have to be a Congressman to be Speaker? Perhaps we need an outsider in that office.

They already passed it. The did the whip on the original bill, then rammed this one in its place.

If people let this go by, they deserve their new despotic country.

Really? Maybe I’m confusing this one with the “until March” Budget CR Bill. Is the bill that is the subject of this thread the meaningless “humor them” bill that is going nowhere in the Senate?

Seriously? They will be on here making their excuses and telling us how wonderful the world will be come January. They believe the lies and like the lash the GOPE lays to their backsides. Skittles and Rainbows with Johnny Boner and Snitch McScrew’em in charge is just around the corner don’t you know for the apologist crew!

If the House Republicans vote to re-elect Boner after this stunt they deserve every screwing the GOPE leadership gives them.

I believe this is a separate bill, meant to defund Obola’s new amnesty plans (parents of anchor babies etc.), but the exceptions stuck in when no one was looking actually do more harm than if the bill had never been passed by the House, because they give a legal platform for what the big zero is doing.

No one is catching on. People are watching Gruber hearings on television. That they can understand. Gruber called us stupid. But if we let this bill proceed to the Senate and be passed, we really are stupid, so why bother watching Gruber on TV?

I feel as if a kind of ebola germ has infected the Republican Party. Our House leadership has caught the amoralaity of the Dems. Doesn’t matter how you do something, just get it done. Except it isn’t what the country voted for. Our party is so divided, with the worst people in control, that they are using Dem tactics on the anti-amnesty crowd who won the election.

No matter how many people don’t catch on, I am sick over this. It is different from the other catastrophes because it is a civil war in our own party. Rush had better start talking about this. Someone named Dace (?) mentioned it today and of course the people mentioned on Breitbart yesterday.

If this is true, that Bonehead tricked 216 of his members, how could any GOP Congress Critter vote for him as speaker come January.

If they do, it shows they are all in on the sham.

OK, then it is good news that the “snuck in” language is in this MEANINGLESS bill that passed the house and NOT in the Budget CR that is under consideration to fund the government for a SHORT time until the NEW Congress takes over in January.

Since this “humor the conservatives” bill is going nowhere other than to die on Harry Reid’s desk along with hundreds of other House passed bills, it will DIE with THIS Congress and never become law and thus never become any sort of LEGAL PLATFORM.

What it did do was to put ALL House conservatives on HIGH ALERT that their leadership will try to sneak things in and that they NEED TO BE HIGHLY ALERT FOR SUCH TRICKS. So, it’s actually good if more Representatives now become more suspicious of Boehner and other House leadership.

I hope with all my heart that you are correct.

Why did Boehner et al. do this, if it was never going to pass from Reid’s desk? That doesn’t kind of gibe. If you are correct.

The first rule they should pass is that every member of the House must be informed when there are changes made to a bill already whipped. Or with a very short amount of time between changes and voting.

I agree. And they need to SPECIFICALLY point out each and every change. Much damage can be done via “editorial/technical corrections” that are much more than editing.
