DA Brandenburg denies bribery, witness intimidation allegations
Albuquerque Journal ^ | December 8, 2014 | Mike Gallagher

District Attorney Kari Brandenburg denied allegations of bribery and witness intimidation during a Monday morning press conference held at the the offices of Albuquerque attorney Peter Schoenburg, whom Brandenburg described as a friend.

“I never at any time violated the law,” Brandenburg said.

The allegations, which were reported in a Journal story Sunday, involve an Albuquerque Police Department investigation into Brandenburg’s role in contacting victims in two burglaries and a larceny in which her son, Justin Koch, was a suspect. The cases involve thousands of dollars in property, including a 9mm Smith & Wesson.

Bradenburg said she has yet to see any of the police reports in the case and that the leak of information to the Journal calls into question the integrity of the investigation.

“At this time we don’t have police reports, only what was in the Journal,” Brandenburg said. “We have serious concerns about the investigation, because key people were not interviewed, including myself.”

The Journal obtained the APD report on Justin Koch and Kari Brandenburg through an Inspection of Public Records Act request. (more at link...)

Brandenburg is a big lib, and at one point was boinking the producer (another big lib) of a former talk-jock on KKOB (AM-770).

The only producer lib on 770 I can recall was Richard Eads. Man, that’s low.

Which producer? That one that worked for Nucci before Billy Fatback? That producer irritated the hell out of me.

I doubt this case against her goes anywhere thanks to Gary King.

Thanks. Couldn’t remember Eads’ name. He was awful.

Couldn’t stand him either.

King is only in office until January, then Hector Balderas takes over. I think he’s more honest than King, and is looking to make a name for himself.

True. For some reason I didn’t even think how close it is until we get rid of King. Him being gone should help with quite a few things.

We are visiting our daughter, son-in-law, two grandsons and new granddaughter in North Pole, AK so I am working with a slightly colder than normal brain!

I got tired of him.

People would correct him on issues, and he would never remember the lesson (example, the “separation of church and state”).

He was always talking, but never improving.
