Michael Tomasky is not content to argue, in the wake of Mary Landrieu's defeat, that Democrats should write off the South as politically-unfriendly territory.
In his Daily Beast item of today, Tomasky goes to great lengths to trash the region in the ugliest of terms. "Reactionary, prejudice-infested, fetid, reject[ing] nearly everything that’s good about this country, just one big nuclear waste site of choleric, and extremely racialized, resentment," is how Tomasky slurs most of the South, saying "almost the entire South" is as he describes it.

What’s ironic is that on several of the social issues, the views of the majority in the south are not that different from your average muslim on things like marriage and abortion. But he would never rant about muslims that way and if someone did he would attack them as being bigoted and racist.
Or NJ; we only outlawed slavery fifteen years before the Civil War, and are still very segregated. Black-on-white crime results when raiders leave the welfare hatcheries on raids; left to their own devices they can only rob & kill each other.

We in the South have an affinity for what really IS good and what actually works . . . which is real freedom. And we certainly know what is NOT good. The Bible says that you may know a spirit by the fruit it bears. Just take a look at the fruit of leftist politics: the sad state of traditional American family, an utterly debased culture,politicians who absolutely ignore the well being of the country and its citizens, the multifaceted bankruptcy of Southern California, Detroit, Chicago, et al.
Now tell me that leftist ideology is good and we Southerners are bad. . . Mr. Tomasky, you have scrambled eggs for brains.
As opposed to the Bronx, southside Chicago, Southside L.A., and Baltimore.................
Obviously a bitter-clinger of the leftist persuasion, but there is some value to his ranting: Southerners who enjoy all the benefits of living in an environment in which civility is still valued will just write him off as just another deranged lib, but hopefully the worst of the Yankee element that is tempted to move from their failed welfare states to greener pastures down South will be dissuaded by his lunatic warnings.
Maybe he was confusing the Northeast with the South. That kind of muddled thinking is what sets them apart from the rest of the country.
It’s a perfect description of South Boston. Or Berkeley, CA. Or just about any major university campus in the US.
