Your list does not include stopping and reversing the invasion of the US. It does not include abolishing the Obamacare mandate. And not just talking about it, doing it with the power of the purse, at the risk of Obama creating a government shutdown. Anyone who does not support, in strongest terms, those two issues will not get the constitutional conservative vote.

The WANT Paul because, while he may attract a lot of curiosity and attention for being different, he is extremely beatable. Why? Because there seems to be no coherence to his policies, particularly foreign policy. I do see the big picture of his views (while agreeing sometimes and being very opposed other times), but sometimes he comes up with a real whopper. That kind of inconsistency will be ripped apart.
As for the rest mentioned, IMHO:
1) Stay out da Bushes;
2) Kristie Kreme stands NO CHANCE to win the primaries - he cannot win anything in the South and West (except maybe Kali) because of his gun control stance (and I’m originally from NJ and I’m disgusted by them - I’ll actively tell people NOT to vote for the statist SOB). That said, I’d love to have him as Secretary of Labor - he does know how to push back against the unions.
3) Walker certainly knows how to campaign, and from what I’ve seen so far is an excellent governor...for the little time that he’s actually had to BE governor and not a candidate. Seems like the poor guy has been campaigning for about 5 years straight. However, ZERO foreign policy experience. I’d be very happy with him as POTUS, but I have at least one ahead of him.
As has been pointed out, there is certainly one figure not discussed...probably because of the great fear that the Kintonistas and other Dems have of him: Ted Cruz. Cruz would, in the absence of Reagan, be dismissed by virtually everyone (and, as it is, is dismissed by many). However, Reagan showed that an articulate and passionate conservative can tap a nerve in the American psyche and clean the clocks of all of the establishment candidates. With that experience, the Dems are petrified...and Cruz has an advantage over Reagan - he is smarter (not that Reagan was any kind of dope, either, media bias notwithstanding) and has been educated and experienced in debate as an attorney. You don’t get to be the law clerk for the Chief Justice by being stupid or lazy - they don’t give that away to ANYONE, you really, really have to earn it. Read his bio on Wikipedia - one impressive credential or accomplishment after another.
He has his values down solidly and in full agreement with true conservatism, he knows how to think quickly on his feet, he knows how to strategize, and he’s got a compelling way of communicating with people. This guy is the real deal...and the Dems are peeing in their pants about facing him. They’ll tell you the opposite, of course, but they fear him. Hillary, in particular - she has this (steaming pile of of horse crap) reputation as the “smartest woman in the world” - yet knows that Cruz is smarter, harder working and younger than her. She will be hung, drawn and quartered in debates with Cruz.

WRT any run-of-the-mill Senator, you are correct. Frankly your assertion is correct regarding almost any legislator. The best Presidents have been governors or generals before assuming office, and the worst have GENERALLY been legislatores.
Of course, Carter was a governor, and Gerry Ford (legislator), though only a bit above average as President, was head and shoulders better than that idiot. FDR was a governor...and while a guy who got things done, he got many of the WRONG things done.
Bush 43 was a governor...and decidedly mediocre (esp. 2nd term).
Lincoln was never an executive. You can argue all day about how he abused (or not) the Constitution during the Civil War, but he and he alone preserved the Union.
Reagan was a governor, of course, but where did he learn the skills to run CA? From acting? Being President of the SGA? Nope - he had a natural gift, he was a born leader that just needed the opportunity.
So, based on just these few examples, I’d say that while there is truth to your general observation, it isn’t and can’t be an iron-clad rule (and I know that you understand this as well - I’m not accusing you of claiming that it is).
I would argue that Cruz is one of the exceptions to the rule. Take a look at his Wikipedia bio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_cruz to see how many times in his short life that he’s been put in charge of something that came out well. He, like Reagan, has the gift of leadership. What he also has is a solid vision that is utterly consistent with the ideals of the Founders, and he can communicate is about as well as Reagan himself could. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have as both the GOP candidate and the POTUS than him.
Not if we can get behind Ted Cruz early on. Let the RINOs tear each other apart this time. They can't pretend to be conservative when they are standing next to a real one and Ted will out them in the debates.
I expect the GOPe to run some fake conservatives again like Huckabee to try to strip off some support from Cruz. We just should not fall for it this time.

Agreed. Perry’s debate performances in 2012 was abysmal to say the least. He was ill prepared and recovering from back surgery which may have been a factor.
I am willing to give him a second chance.
I live in CA and we usually have our presidential primary late in the game, usually in June.
So by the time I get to cast my vote, I suspect the field will be substantially reduced by then. If Perry is still hanging in there, I would definitely consider voting for him over Jeb, Christie, or Paul.
And when Obama is done it will be fresh in everyone’s mind just how bad a fit a Senator can be.
Not so much, maybe Abbot will change it as he promised.

Kasich is really moving “left”. I put him in the same category as Christie and Jeb.
And we wonder why we ALWAYS end up with a Moderate at the top of the Ticket.
You know what folks..... I really don’t worry about Hillary or Jeb. I truly believe that America is fatigued with the Clinton and the Bush dynasties. I’m not sure that either of them will get the nominations. Just sayin’
