Despite the media’s gushing over support for President Obama’s executive order on illegal immigrants, a poll just published finds that the public is rejecting his move, with overwhelming majorities demanding that illegal children be barred from schools and illegal adults from jobs.
A new Economist/YouGov poll said that the public opposes the president’s order, 45 percent to 38 percent supporting it. In fact, only a majority of Democrats support the president’s action.
“The president’s plan for executive action on immigration clearly does not sit well with many Americans. Democrats support the president’s decision to use an executive order to delay deportation proceedings for parents of U.S. citizens, but 51 percent of independents and 80 percent of Republicans oppose it,” said the poll analysis.
What’s more, support for illegals and the president’s action has dropped since he unveiled his order to allow some illegals to stay temporarily and apply for a work permit if they have children who are U.S. citizens.
In February, for example, 55 percent supported providing a path to citizenship. That has dropped to 47 percent.
More telling is the nation’s attitude toward undocumented immigrants when it comes to jobs, school and crime.
“There is much support overall for punitive action against illegal immigrants: nearly two in three favor reporting employers who hire illegal immigrants, increasing fines for those employers and criminalizing the act of employing illegals, and requiring the police to report illegal immigrants to the federal government,” said the poll analysis. It added: “More than a third would keep illegal immigrant children out of public schools.”
Deport them all! Eisenhower did. Sound impossible? Do it one at a time.
As if Obama and the people who instruct him care a damn about what the American people want.
All I can think of is a movie scene, I think it was Blazing Saddles, or perhaps History of the World where the Politicians are heard saying “Screw the People”. And thus art becomes Life or vice versa.
In any case, I agree with the sentiments about no longer permitting access to the welfare/entitlement system unless the beneficiaries are American citizens.
When Romney, in 2012, was pitched out by some jackasses we ended up with King Obama. So suck it up. Most of you got what you wanted and the King is ruling with almost pure power. Not a damn thing you can do to stop the illegals from schools or jobs. And they will draw welfare. Enjoy! We tried to tell you to pick the lesser of the two evils since we had no choice.
Like I tell my kids when faced with what seems an insurmountable task, take that first step and keep walking.
Deport one, then another, then two, keep going until done. It may take years just get started.

And this Hispanic-American who lived in México for almost 10 years would love to see a MASSIVE deportation of all of them.

And somehow, the GOP establishment is unwilling, or unable, to capitalize on this poltically. They’re in a rush to fund amnesty.
Yep! And all of those “Christians” who couldn’t vote for a Mormon either.

If you are in a position to process paperwork or applications, it is always possible an omission or incorrect entry can delay the processing...until after the new congress is sworn in.

There is a wide swath of American commerce that depends upon the availability of cheap illegal labor for its profitability. Those businesses are GOP supporters. They are also criminals, although they don’t like to admit it.

Exactly, he and his minions could care less about what Americans want i.e. obamacare. I guess he wants to teach us a lesson that we don’t always get what we want. Can’t wait to say adios to this wantabe president.

Agreed, but in their mind their patriots.
You must have made millions from that time machine or crystal ball or that mirror that lets you look into alternate universes.
No one can possibly know what would have happened. I would have prefered to find out though. I can’t imagine it’d be worse than the utter lawlessness we have now.
