House may vote to undo Obama immigration order

The Republican-led House may vote this week to undo President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration, House Speaker John Boehner told lawmakers Tuesday as he sought to give outraged conservatives an outlet to vent over Obama’s move without shutting down the government.

The move would be mostly symbolic, since Obama would certainly veto such legislation and the Democratic-led Senate likely wouldn’t go along with it. But GOP leaders hope it will assuage Republicans furious about Obama’s two-week-old actions to shield some 4 million immigrants in this country illegally from deportation, and grant them work permits.

“We’re looking at a number of options in terms of how to address this. This is a serious breach of our Constitution,” Boehner told reporters. “It’s a serious threat to our system of government, and frankly we have limited options and limited ability to deal with it directly.” …

Unless they actually attach teeth to a continuing resolution, this is all for show.

“We’re looking at a number of options in terms of how to address this.”

In other words, we’re going to talk a big game for a few weeks and then disappear for Christmas. And then we’ll do absolutely nothing.

I don’t know how you can legally vote to undo something that was done illegally in the first place.

I’m getting dizzy.

“The move would be mostly symbolic”

Boehner is a master of the meaningless. He excels at gestures that accomplish nothing, and folds on any real opportunity to limit the power of Washington.

Boehner and McConnell can be counted on to block any conservative effort that would significantly curtail Zero’s agenda (amnesty, defunding ObummberCare, etc.).

I wouldn’t call collaboration “folding”. You’d have to have had actual principles to begin with, and of course weaken on them.

Oh give me a freaking break, Boehner.

“serious breach” but “limited ability”

Man we need him out of office.

ICE and the Border Patrol employees took an oath to uphold the Constitution in carrying out their duties. They should refuse to stand down on deportations, or are they more dedicated to their pay checks than to their country?

The logic is simple. If Obama can disregard the Constitution and pass laws, then the House can disregard the Constitution and cancel his laws. They would not need his signature.

These people think we’re all a bunch of knuckle-dragging illiterate morons.

Yeah, vote to un-do it, that’s the ticket. Just like all those End-Obamacare votes, it will keep all us imbecile conservative hillbillies from making a fuss.

The fact is nothing is going to change until Boehner and McConnell are removed from their leadership positions.

House Speaker John Boehner told lawmakers Tuesday as he sought to give outraged conservatives an outlet to vent over Obama’s move without shutting down the government.

It is plain foolish to "give outraged conservatives an outlet to vent" because they want to see real change.

There are many meaningless actions by congress; most people do not even know about them. All they know is what passes or is changed. In this case, nothing. The congress should forget about meaningless and unknown actions to "vent."
