Yeah.

Right.

I remember when Skynet signed on to Asimov’s law.

Call/go online, they will refund those shipping charges. They have some of the most outstanding customer service I have encountered.

Depends on where you live...

Most of my stuff seems to come from 6 states away. When they “sure post” it, I am “sure” it’ll be late.

Not a good thing to go through as a third grader.

On the contrary, I'm sure that it was character-building!

Regards,

Perhaps. I am glad it shook that memory from my head.

I had a similar 3rd grade experience, in Catholic School. I was ‘rounded up’ in class, and ordered to the school library, where I was accused of not returning a book; the implication was, that I stole it, and was now on the fast track to hell. It was the day after my grandfather had died, and I burst into tears. Not satisfied with that, the nun smugly told me, that if I had, indeed, returned it, the book was in the room somewhere, and challenged me, to find it.

Miracle of The Lord. I turned around, and there it was, right next to me ! I pulled it off the shelf, and handed it to the nun, within 30 seconds. She did not even offer an apology.

Thinking back on it, that pissed me off, too !

Maybe your grandfather was looking out for you.

I think he was. To top the story off, the book was about “Praying mantises”. I was fascinated by them, at that age.
They must have been praying for me, as well :)

Thanks for your reply.

I went to public school and attend catechism classes after school at a local Catholic elementary school.

The nuns were extremely formidable and they made quite an impression on a young lad like me.

I made sure I did nothing to deserve any use of the ruler on my knuckles!

LOL, big time !

Every day, you had to put your homework on your desk, with your hand, next to it. If you didn’t complete the task, you got rapped with a STEEL ruler, on the knuckles.

If you tried to pass off yesterday’s homework, as today’s homework, you would get three raps, plus detention. Detention always involved some unpleasant task, like emptying out every trash can, in the building.

On top of that, you had to walk home, as the bus was long gone. In my case, that was three miles. This was in a small town, in the ‘60s, so it wasn’t considered to be dangerous.

FReegards !

Wow, I only had to deal with that for two hours, once a week.

My hat’s off to you for surviving that for years!

Two sayings, as an adult, that we alumni shared:

1) I survived Catholic School.

2) The reason why nuns were so mean, is because they weren’t getting none ;)

Ironically, last night I was on the phone with one of my classmates, from that era. First time we had spoken, since 1981!

General Omar Bradley in World War II famously said: “Amateurs study tactics, professionals study logistics.”

If Bradley said it, it was because he was quoting Napoleon Bonaparte.
