I find it interesting that the author was speculating in 2013 on the 2016 presidential election instead of concentrating on the 2014 midterm election.

And I’ll say this - he is not sure that Carson is a great conservative candidate (and I agree with that) - but he gives Hucskter and Santorum a free ride on their rampant liberalism outside of social policy.

It is blaringly obvious that Carson’s primary “qualification” to be a conservative leader is the color of his skin. A white physician with a similar background would never have gotten any attention at all. Just as a white state legislator or first term Senator like Obama could never have been a viable candidate for President.

Nothing against the man, who may very well deserve our support. I just find it sad that to be an effective potential leader we’ve developed a de facto skin color criterion. And that conservatives are buying into it to some extent.

I like 90% of what Ben Carson says....really concerned with the 10% although I don’t think he could act on it as a republican. I don’t think he is ready to be the President of the U.S. I have no idea what his foreign policy thought are.

He is neither a friend or a foe. Just a distraction.

You are wrong, he just does not want guns in the inner cities. He has no problem with people living out in the country having guns

Huckabee, on raising taxes as Governor of Arkansas:

“I didn’t raise taxes, I raised hope.”

This man is HHS Cabinet level or Surgeon General quality. He would round out a nice conservative cabinet

Personally I think he would be the perfect choice for Surgeon General of whoever gets the Republican nomination for President and wins the election

Great minds think alike don't they?

Frankly, I think Obama has ruined it for black presidential candidates for at least a generation.

Right or wrong, as the first black president (and such a dismal failure), Obama will be in the back of anyone’s mind who considers Carson.

Thank you, Capo Kaslin. Here, we part. Let's adjust your sentence:

You are wrong, he just does not want guns in the hands of Jews. He has no problem with good Germans having guns

Some around here feel that as long as “the right people” are disarmed, it’s okay. See above.

This needs to be broadcast and placed in every discussion about Dr. Carson. He is a threat to the 2nd Amendment.

“The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few. Carson has shown up to work while many who claim to be on our side are out to lunch. I say we hand him a hard hat.”

I agree entirely. It’s refreshing to have someone who speaks his mind, without handlers, and tells you what he/she thinks - not what their consultants think they should tell you. That doesn’t mean he’s earned a nomination or a vote yet, but IMHO he is a big plus.

It’s basically the old line about not rejecting the good in anticipation of the perfect.

There’s wisdom in that. Certainly. But it also boils down to what they’re not good on.

Issues are weighted. Some are more important than others. In my view, the right to keep and bear arms IS a pro-life issue. So is a strong defense.

Dr. Carson would make a fine Surgeon General in Pres. Cruz’s cabinet.

Anyone that thinks 'some people' shouldn't have guns would have no problem thinking 'some people' should just shut up and give up their 1st Amendment rights.
