Guerilla War is very hard on the defenders as the attackers have almost all of the advantage. They are dressed like the local populace (no uniforms), they choose the place to attack, they have the advantage of surprise and initiative and they generally leave and hide far faster than the defenders can send a reaction force.
Add to Nigeria’s woes is that, like the Middle East, its boundaries come out of the colonial era which frequently ignored tribes and religion boundaries. So you find easily exploited fissures within a fragile social fabric that has little inherent focused nationalism. I do have a question as to where Boko Haram is getting its funding and have a suspicion that it comes from co-religionist sources 0north and east of their locality.
I do believe God has ways and means to convert hearts of Muslims to the Gospel. And even, hearts of Christians.
