New deception questions: Obamacare adviser warned of premium increases as Obama vowed savings
Washington Times ^ | November 24, 2014 | Kelly Riddell

While President Obama campaigned on a promise that his universal health care plan would lower premiums, his controversial adviser and plan architect was privately warning the state of Wisconsin that Obamacare was poised to massively increase insurance costs for average residents, internal documents show......

[MIT economist Jonathan] Gruber’s study predicted about 90 percent of individuals without employer-sponsored or public insurance would see their premiums spike by an average of 41 percent. Once tax subsidies were factored in, about 60 percent of those in the individual market were projected to see their premiums go up 31 percent, according to his analysis....

The contrast between the Obama administration’s optimistic rhetoric on Obamacare and Mr. Gruber’s private warnings to Wisconsin is certain to attract new attention from the Republican-led Congress, which wants to know whether there was an effort by the administration to deceive the public about the true consequences of the law as Mr. Gruber suggested in a videotape that surfaced recently....

It was only dishonest liberals who were saying that premiums would decrease. EVERYBODY else was warning how they would rise dramatically.

Did Gruber say similar things to Romney about Romneycare? (Oh sorry, don’t ask that question).

The difference was that under Romneycare, the commonwealth of MassASSachusetts could rob the federal taxpayer to make up for any shortfalls.

Gov. Scott Walker and others (look at all the states that didn’t set up exchanges) didn’t buy it.

Gruber’s numbers for the WI study set off alarms.

But Gruber was still gung ho for it - said WI “picked out the most negative” aspects of the healthcare study to nit-pic.

It’s an interesting article. Worth the read.

Good one.

Remember a time when we thought conversations like this were just imaginary and made up as a joke?

Little did we know...

Time to stock up on popcorn and pray that the truth bug is still infecting Jonathan Gruber.

'Stupidity' consultant agrees to testify (Gruber) ".......“Both Mr. Gruber and Administrator Tavenner have agreed to testify,” committee spokeswoman Caitlin Carroll told The Hill.

Both figures have played a role in major political headaches for the Obama administration, which is facing new attacks about “repeated transparency failures and outright deceptions” by committee chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.). Gruber, an economist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will be grilled for a number of speeches he has given since 2010 that blame the Obama administration for intentionally obscuring details of the healthcare law in order to assure its passage.

Tavenner, who leads the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), has taken flak after an investigation by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee revealed last week that ObamaCare enrollment figures had been inflated by nearly 400,000 people.

The administration has been quick to acknowledge that the misreported enrollment count was a mistake, and have defended Tavenner. But hardly any Democrats have stood beside Gruber.

Democrats on the committee are “still considering different options for a minority witness,” according to a Democratic staffer....."

Mine’s up 60% from last year if I choose to keep the same coverage which I doubt I’ll do.
