Well Ted IMO is right about one thing. If the moderate gets the nomination the same 3 million republicans plus 3 million more will sit home in 2016.
There are times in history that are inflections. Basic forks in the road that have far-reaching consequences. I think 2016 is going to be one of those elections.
His words remind me so much of those associated with the Founding Fathers.
Mr. Boteach said, You are arguably the strongest US Senator when it comes to Israel. But if you run, can you win? Youre seen as a champion of the tea party. And the media tends to caricature.
Mr. Cruz replied, Historically, the media has had two caricatures of Republicans. We are either stupid or evil... Reagan was stupid, according to the media. George W. Bush, Dan Quayle, stupid. Nixon was evil, Cheney was evil. I sort of take it as a backhanded compliment that theyve invented a new caricature for me crazy. At the end of the day, that caricature doesnt trouble me because its fundamentally false. The American people have a history of making up their own minds.
The biggest divide is not between Republicans and Democrats. The biggest divide is between career politicians in Washington of both parties and the American people.
A great statement of truth (IMHO) but I don’t know how it will play in America in 2016. We are so divided as a nation and, as bad as it is, I’m not at all confident that Americans have either felt enough pain to influence or motivate their thinking and voting or, more depressing, really know anymore what is in their best interests. The Republican moderates seemed well supported in this last election in spite of what they did in Mississippi and other places - or at least were able to keep a lock on their power. Cheap oil may give the economy a little boost in the next two years. If it does, the Democrats will try to claim credit - and low info voters will most likely buy another “the government will save you” program. I hope Cruz runs. I will vote for him in a heart beat. I hope he appeals to the common man and woman, to those struggling to find jobs, to struggling families and to middle class voters. I think the economic issues are still going to be important to everyone (except the moocher class). Those are areas where he can make inroads but I personally feel our problems are much more fundamental and there I don’t have much optimism . We have lost touch with reality, with what constitutes truth, error and morals. When the truth about our nation has to run against both parties it’s not easy being optimistic. Are there enough Americans left that still believe in our values and our founding principles? I can only hope and pray so.
I’d like to see someone force DWS to read this article out loud.
