You've got to hand it to U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III for showing good judgment in turning down the offer to head the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
If ever there was a loser of an assignment, this is it. It is a job that almost wrecked his cousin, former Rhode Island U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy, son of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy.
Patrick Kennedy, before not seeking re-election in 2010 after serving eight terms in the U.S. House, headed the committee from 1999 to 2001. He was appointed by then-House Democrat Majority Leader Richard Gephardt, who had visions of running for president.
