230 thousand Chinese students make up over a quarter of international student population at U.S. universities...
My jaw just hit the floor. Is this number for real?

I would say something like 85% of UC Irvine is Asian, most of them ethnic Chinese.

That equals about 500 Chinese students per university, college of other accredited degree issuing institution.

Probably; twenty years ago my state college in NJ had lots of them. Schools have been attracting them for years to boost enrollment.
They don’t go back, either (who would?); we’ve been trafficking Asians here for white-collar work for decades.

I had dinner with an engineering professor from Case Western Reserve. He said that many of the students especially the graduate engineering students are from China. You need to understand that while MIT might have thousands of applications the equivalent university in China has millions of applicants. 250,000 students surprise you! They could send 2,500,000 students annually. They have a big interest education.
