600° below zero: Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafsplay for the Stanley Cup. Neither team wins.
This is the first time in a long time the thruway has been closed for so long.....it is the best maintained road in the state and a lifeblood artery....the alternative being the only east west roads of 5&20 and 104....both of which are two lane roads for major rural portions.
We hear a lot about Buff - but the east end of the state - the Adirondacks got just as much - the only difference being it fuels their winter economy as 1/2 the state goes there to the park for hundreds of miles worth of snow mobile trails
Though at the first thaw here in roch 45 deg is literally tshirt weather if its sunny
My wife and I spent a day several years ago at camp - It was 17 degress the air was dead still so we lit a bonfire - it got so warm in a 20 foot radius we took our coats off and spent a lovely winter day in the bright Sunshine...it was crazy
The Tug Hill Plateau which is west of the Adirondacks is the place to be. Used to do a lot of snowmobiling there. Places there average 250" a year.
Just sent that pic to aunts, uncles and cousins living south of Buffalo ... I’m sure they’ll get a laugh out of it. They’ve been taking this storm in stride ....
I bet there are people who are stranded by the snow, drifts covering their windows, roof beams creaking under the strain, electric out and they call their ISP and ask why their internet is not working....
Many years ago I worked at Earthlink and we had people call.
Standing next to the family minivan at the height of the storm:
A picture down his driveway to the road:
View from front door of the house:
Trying to keep the driveway clear as the snow finally starts letting up:
From this morning, before the snow started up again:
That is soooo cool! Of course, I don’t live there but I love snow!
