El PASO, Texas Ysleta Independent School District officials were notified Tuesday morning that the sibling of a student at East Point Elementary school has been placed under Ebola watch in accordance to guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The sibling returned to El Paso from West Africa late Monday, officials said.
YISD is acting out of an abundance of caution to inform the parents and community about this situation. School officials want to remind the community that individuals are not contagious until symptoms appear and they are emphasizing that there is no imminent danger to any student or staff member at East Point Elementary.
The health and safety of students is always our top priority at Ysleta ISD, said YISD Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre.
Parent letters were sent out Tuesday with students and an automated phone message was also sent to parents regarding the matter.
When this was brought to our attention, we felt it was important to communicate as much accurate information as possible with parents and the community, even though the sibling is asymptomatic, said De La Torre.

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
I grew up in El Paso. Still have family there.
Very populated. If you add in the population of Juarez across the Mexican border and Last Cruces, NM, it is a massive population of people.
Thanks for posting.
Local newsu agency bout to get The Call from the obola czar. Tsk tsk.
What the heck does “placed under Ebola watch” mean? I doubt it means quarantine and does mean still going to school.
The health and safety of students is always our top priority at Ysleta ISD, said YISD Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre. — thank goodness they are doing everything possible. \snark
It means go to school, and if the teacher happens to notice your eyes are bleeding she’ll do something.

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Lock the kid in a closet?
Thanks for the ping!
