So according to this article, the bible says trees are nice. And people like a neighborhood with nice trees. Therefore, evolution is a crock. Oooookay.

You know, sometimes these ICR articles are entertaining or mildly informative. But this one is just silly.

God loves you.

He created trees to calm your nerves.

Genesis is true.

Please have a nice day. I think a small truth, about God loving beauty, is not silly.

"Therefore, evolution is a crock"

Trees themselves are a product of evolution. At one time there were no trees on the earth. It was only after the plant world developed lignin which was strong and flexible that larger plants like trees evolved

Trees are deeply rooted in our psychic. They were there surrounding us from the beginning. God put us in a most pleasant and healthful place, a garden with many trees.

According to this study when trees died so did people.

I haven't any problem with it's conclusion, as I instinctively know that trees minister to me on a very deep and profound level. You shouldn't have to be considered a “liberal tree hugger” because you have great appreciation of God's wonderfully and magnificately created nature.

RESULTS:

There was an increase in mortality related to cardiovascular and lower-respiratory-tract illness in counties infested with the emerald ash borer. The magnitude of this effect was greater as infestation progressed and in counties with above-average median household income. Across the 15 states in the study area, the borer was associated with an additional 6113 deaths related to illness of the lower respiratory system, and 15,080 cardiovascular-related deaths.

CONCLUSIONS:

Results suggest that loss of trees to the emerald ash borer increased mortality related to cardiovascular and lower-respiratory-tract illness. This finding adds to the growing evidence that the natural environment provides major public health benefits.
