These stories are so creepy; not withstanding the ongoing race war in this country, this has happened enough (usually with mentally ill homeless people) that I don’t know how people are still caught unawares.

God what a horrible thing, but I grew up in NYC and took the subway all the time as a teenager. There’s one thing you learn at an early age, and that is situation awareness on the subway platform. You never, never, NEVER stand near the edge of the platform when a train is near (I don’t care how crowded the damned train may be), and you always, always ALWAYS know who is behind and on either side of you.
I take commuter trains today, and I still practice this! When my MARC or VRE (Maryland and Virginia) trains are coming, I step back and make sure there’s no one near me who could push me. The time to step forward is AFTER the train has arrived. It’s survival in the jungle.
The people doing this are black... they’re NOT white homeless people - or Asian homeless people or Jewish homeless people...
