I too grew up in nyc (brooklyn), and I too stood as far away as I could from the edge of the platform. Id have my back up against a wall or if the platform was between tracks and didnt have a wall to press against, I’d press myself against one of those I beams, the side facing away from the tracks. Anybody with a mind to push me onto the tracks would have to push the I beam too.
Many is the time I’d watch idiots stand with their toes at the very edge of the platform. Making themselves perfect targets for any crazy who wanted to push them. Or for them to slip off with the slightest vibrations from the trains.
When they heard the train coming, they’d stare down the tunnel and I’d think to myself, “standing at the edge of the platform and looking down the tunnel wont make the train come any faster, people”
What has happened to these people? How evil ARE they?
Here in northern NJ many people in my area (across a river from Newark NJ) either lived in Newark themselves decades ago or are descended from those that did; nobody has any misconceptions or naivete about race. It is reminiscent of the people of Laketown living under the shadow of the Lonely Mountain; everybody knows Smaug is in there, and he can issue forth at any time...
The river is a moat, with a few crossing points easily guarded.
How much do Bill of Rights permits cost in your neck of the woods? Can you just buy just a First Amendment license, or do you have to get them all?

The victim was Chinese. But I think your point still holds.
With Chinese and others moving into the S. Bronx the pusher probably holds the Spike Lee point-of-view about certain kinds of people moving into neighborhoods.
The victim was Asian. Blacks don’t like Asians because they word hard, study hard, and try to get ahead in life. Obviously, that means they must be discriminating against blacks. Right?
Two Chinese students at USC were shot several years ago by a Holder person. He bragged about “popping” them while in jail.

The next step is to “fix” those pesky photos to make them more suitable.
And in yet another case I ask, does this really deserve a “fair” trial?
Used to ride the metro in DC fairly regularly. Never got in front of a crowd at the station. Never took my eyes off of the obvious ferals. Never rode outside of civilization (VA, Bethesda MD, NW DC, Downtown DC during daytime).
“Isn’t this a racial Hate Crime? Black feral murders Chinese. Where is Clown Prince Liar nobama on this?”
What I want to know, is why aren’t the Chinese-Americans rioting. Probably too busy working, or simply grieving, I suppose.
