FPS is the agency in charge of protecting federal facilities, like court houses, federal buildings, etc. Many federal buildings are still protected by contract security companies. The FPS always freaks out when anything happens near a facility they protect. They did the same thing for the political conventions in 2012. They don’t have any authority to work other than at those facilities.
