Obama said the notion that any provisions in the bill were hidden is absurd given the intensity of news coverage of the subject when the bill was being drafted and debated in Congress.
It was a 2000 page bill which few if any congressmen had read. There were major changes made to the legislation as it worked its way through the legislative process. There were last minute changes made after the main bill passed, through the controversial “RECONCILIATION” process.
I watched the intense news coverage at the time. And that news coverage focused a lot on how chaotic the process was, and how many congressmen were not quite sure what was in the bill.
Given how it all transpired, it’s hard to take Obama and his henchmen seriously, that there was nothing hidden in the law, and that the whole process was open, transparent, and honest.
Once the witness is shown to have lied the jury is free to
regard further statements as false.
