What Republicans don't get about the U.S.-China climate change deal
TheWeek.com ^ | 11/14/2014 | Ryan Cooper

Some excerpts to give the flavor of the Dem propaganda concerning Obama's idiotic promises on emissions to China:

"The GOP is sure that China is pulling the wool over the world's eyes. But these Republicans are just betraying their total ignorance of climate policy. "

"For an example bordering on comical ignorance, look no further than the enraged clowns in the Republican Party, whose elected officials have been howling that China has played the U.S. for a fool. The assumption is that no country in its right mind would give up the benefits of carbon pollution unless, of course, the country was run by hippie zealots." [enraged clowns?]

"Climate change is the mother of all collective action problems. It is a colossal threat to human society that will take unprecedented cooperation across nearly the whole world to confront. But on the flip side, it is also a huge opportunity to save our civilization as we know it — if the global community can secure deals to lower emissions."

...and so on and on

It never hurts to occasionally view the talking points of the Dark Side.

How can anyone with any sense think that the Chinese are doing anything over this stupid promise to cut emissions here by roughly a third, with the obvious economic restrictions it will entail, in return for a vague promise China might do something down the road?

They continue to build coal plants and enjoy the cheap power we deny ourselves. Till 2030.

Of course, conservatives can be relied upon to oppose any action on climate change, regardless of content. They're annoyed because this deal cuts the legs out from one of their favorite excuses to do nothing: that any action by the U.S. will simply be offset by the sneaky Chinese. For some reason — perhaps because the Republican Party is riddled with people who don't accept climate science? — they have failed to anticipate that China might act in its own best interests.

If only....

The carbon fraud enriches a few and destroys the economy. As such it is perfect policy for Democrats.

CO2 increases plant life. All research proves CO2 is fundamental for plant growth. Any increase in CO2 emissions from any source increase plant growth. How, precisely, is plant growth a net negative for the environment?

The left is deranged. We will have to pry statist control out of their cold frozen hands.

We have the most hated president since Nixon. Both Nixon and Obama went to China to give away their countries future for a few percentage approval points in the polls.

They’ll do something about pollution, because they have to, as a matter of public health. But that might just involve some coal scrubbing and more nukes to reduce pollutants, but not to limit carbon dioxide.

The real issue is that the US won’t be able to bring back manufacturing as Chinese wages and currency rise. Those trends would make costs here more competitive (if the unions don’t skim too much); but, if you are hell-bent on cutting CO2, you can’t bring manufacturing back on line.

Hahaha, actually China IS acting in their best interest,
they are going to burn our coal, bought at reduced price,
to power their economy, all while grubering Obama with
vague promises of compliance in the distant future, while
we slowly strangle on a web of meaningless regulations.

I feel confident knowing that president “Don’t call my bluff!” has our back when it comes to the Chinese.

America didn’t reach a deal with China.

The Pinko Prez came to an agreement with the Chinese Reds.

I don’t feel ANY need to comply with those Communists are in agreement on.

The Chinese are the world’s worst polluters today. For them to raise their clean air standards to those of the West would entail a colossal cost that would set them back decades ....

.... unless .... some organization or group or nation ....

paid them to get started.

I suspect Obama is paying for this climate change ‘investment’.

And I also expect the Chinese will not do a damn thing but take the money and build more warships.

You can always depend on an article filled with anti-Repub/ conservative insults and snarkyness to give you the unbiased truth.
So the fact that China makes an unenforceable agreement that commits the US to economically destructive action now while postponing their requirements for 15 yrs proves that GW is a real crisis? Someone’s been taking too many butt hits.
