New York (AFP) - New York Mayor Bill de Blasio signed two laws Friday that cut the city's cooperation with US federal authorities on the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

Blasting federal immigration enforcement as "overbroad," de Blasio said America's most populated city would now only cooperate with national authorities when there are concerns over public safety or when immigrants have committed "violent or serious" crimes.

"Mass deportation has not only pulled apart thousands of New York City families, it has also undermined public safety in our communities and imposed disproportionate penalties on immigrant parents and spouses who these families depend on for emotional and financial support," de Blasio said in a statement.

It's hard to believe NY could do worse than Michael Bloomberg, but it has.

There are many stupid liberals in my family. Without a doubt, the stupidest of the stupid is one who lives in NYC. She thinks Michelle Obama should be the first female president. Yes, she is that stupid.

Every city outside NY across the country should give free bus and train tickets to all their illegals.

Off topic - but I have to ask. Heard today on Hannity’s radio show that Pataki may be running for President. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I know nothing of Pataki. Thanks, all.

It’s done worse. They had Dinkins and Lindsay. Kaiser Wilhelm is trying to outdo those bozos.

BTW, how is it ultraleft local gov’ts can decide not to follow or cooperate with the feds and get away with it ? How ‘bout Conservative states trying that and see how far they get before judges “force” them to comply.

The families brought it upon themselves by coming here illegally. It’s not our responsibility to correct their mistakes.

Has ore illy seen the $20,000,000,000.00 debt?

Unfortunate?

Our kids have no ‘fortunate ‘ status to share with invading forces

RINO milquetoast who couldn’t control the state budget and did television commercials asking for more people to sign up for Medicaid. Pass.

You left out three zeroes. Almost $20,000,000,000,000.00

New York City should lose ALL of its federal funding.

When I break the law, I get punished.

You are correct

it’s $20,000,000,000,000.00 Twenty trillion dollars expected debt when Obama supposedly leaves office, which does not count if another democrat impersonator (communist grafter) gets into office. And that includes Jeb or Romney.

Fortunate. No.

Has Ted Baxter’s ratings gone down far enough yet, or are the liberals still boosting them?

When you break the law...you probably don’t, bu if you did, you’d be treated as a citizen.

What they are not admitting is that illegals have superior status.

You should see the thrashing about and tantrum making I see when I treat certain people as equal to others.

Instead of above the rules.

Will the kind of monsters he’s letting in affect him personally? If they do and he survives, it’ll be the proverbial “beneficial crisis”.

Whatever I do...

Here in Tx, the local businesses bow to the illegals, their language, culture, trashing of the English language, ridiculous driving habits, jumping the line, tuition and college entrance and scholarship advantages, It doesn’t matter what anyone does. If you don’t step back and cater, and teach your kids to do the same, if you speak up you are in for a bad day.

I had some local intellectual idiot crowing to me recently about how Emperor Zero had cut the deficit. I was literally flabbergasted at the sheer audacity of the comment.
