GROTON, Conn. Authorities say two Navy civilian police officers have been wounded while confronting a knife-wielding man at a Connecticut base.
Navy officials say an officer guarding the submarine base in Groton Thursday night fired shots at the man who allegedly had tried to enter through a pedestrian gate.
Authorities say one officer was injured by the ricochet of bullets. The second officer suffered a minor stab wound to the leg. Both have been treated and released from a local hospital.

And what color was the Koran this person was carrying the knife in?
Been on this base. Very grateful they weren’t seriously hurt. Was this just someone with mental health issues, or was this an attack of sorts? I guess we will find out soon - but maybe not.
So much for any of us plebians ever getting to go to the Submarine Museum and seeing the Nautilus.
I was kind of wondering if he was yelling Allahu akbar at the time? The fact that they don't say anything one way or the other, makes me suspicious.
Very grateful to read they both will be ok.
It’s the blindness of agenda journalism. they are so intent on being PC that they completely overlook the fact that they drive and build suspicion/resentment against the most likely group responsible. It may turn out to be a white guy with mental issues. Or a a senile granny. But because they insist on NOT telling us, we think “Military base attack? Muslim” whether it was or not. And considering most of us will never check back, thats the impression we are left with. So whose at fault? Us for a common sense deduction or the idiot to PC to do his actual job informing the public?
The ‘journalist’.
The worthless media are at fault of course, but speaking of checking back. There was a thread recently about a fight on a subway train, New York I think. Some guy knocked a female on her keister, after she attacked him. I saw a followup article. The guy was released, self defense. Fortunately for him, someone recorded it.

Most current “journalists” don’t deserve the title. They are turning it into a bad joke like “used car salesmen.” Most “reporters” and “editors” are really just mouthpieces for their agenda. They are destroying, heck they have destroyed the reputation of that career field.
Yes, they have, but instead of correcting themselves, they double down on their treachery, and cover for each other and continue to get away with it. Is there any wonder why they are hated?
"Zendan said, "The shots were not warning shots. They were fired by a Navy Civilian Police Officer who perceived a threat from a belligerent civilian suspect allegedly brandishing a knife".Zendan stated that the suspect did not receive any injuries and was immediately taken into custody by Groton police. The suspect will stay under the custody of the Naval Criminal Investigation Service.
Police, navy and FBI officials are investigating the whole incident, he added. He also said that presently they have no clues about the intentions of the suspect.
Groton Town Police Lt. Brian Dawson said that police has shifted the suspect to L+M for observation. Dawson said that any charges against the suspect will be brought by the Naval Criminal Investigative service. The NCIS as of now has not released the name of the suspect.
Dawson said that Navy Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps officers were brought to the scene to determine jurisdiction. They confirmed that the incident happened entirely on the Naval property, he said.
Connecticut State Police has also responded to the incident. It was found that there were numerous police cruisers and officers at the main entrance on Crystal Lake Road off Route 12, near the Nautilus Museum.

"According to the official, the man appeared belligerent and was "speaking nonsense," attempting to walk through a gate meant for vehicles. When an officer tried to steer him toward the pedestrian entrance the man then accosted the officer, brandishing a knife. A third officer discharged a shot, accidentally causing injury to another officer involved in the dispute."

"Warning shots??? Apparently the Security personnel have not been properly trained. You shoot to stop the action of the perpetrator if justified. You don't shoot warning shots that have the potential of striking responding personnel or innocent bystanders. Poor decision and tactics. Can't wait for the full investigation to be completed and released. Should be interesting." - AC
