Jesse lost it about four months after he was elected governor of Minnesota. He had talked a rather conservative line in the campaign, plus he had an arch leftist, Skip Humphrey (Hubert's boy) representing the DFL and a Democrat turned Republican representing the GOP.
Shortly after taking office, he became a booster of the stupid light rail boondoggle in St. Paul and later threatened the life of a Star-Tribune reporter.
Some people actually thought he had fallen and cracked his skull. Turned out he was always “cracked.”
