Protesters yelling “Yankee go home!” attacked three U.S. sailors in Istanbul, Turkey, on Wednesday, while the warship USS Ross was in port.

The sailors were not injured and all returned to the ship, said Capt. Greg Hicks, a spokesman for U.S. European Command.

Take their advice and take both the ship and the billions of dollars in foreign aid we send them too.

Pull out US troops. Make it known that the US is no longer obligated to protect Turkey. Then let Russia invade to take over Istanbul, rename it Constantinople and start killing all radical Muslims in the city.

I would not be comfortable going on liberty in Turkey. I can’t imagine why any non-muslim westerner would.

So tell me again why Turkey remains in NATO?

The only reason they were in NATO to begin with was their border with the USSR in the Transcaucasus area. When the USSR went out of business, and the Caucasus was split up into the smaller states, there was no longer a reason for Turkey to remain in NATO. Some would argue that there was no longer a justification for NATO, period.

Fear of the Soviet Union helped keep Turkey a secular state and aligned with the United States. The USSR is gone, the islamists have taken over, and now they don't need us. Apparently they don't like us either. We seem to be the only country in the world that doesn't realize it.

I think it’s high time we stopped paying tribute to every latrine hole country in the world. (Israel excepted, but they are not a latrine hole anyway). I don’t care if they become moslem or suck up to the Chinese or just go to hell.

Not our problem, not worth money we don’t have.

This will be the same BS process that we go through in South Korea and the Philippines. A large, vocal segment of the population hates us so we pull out or threaten to. Then either (1) more sober minds realize how insane that is and how vulnerable they would be without Uncle Sam protecting them (Korea) and beg us to stay or (2) we actually do leave and the country, which was a Third World Hellhole to begin with, realizes how much they needed Uncle Sam’s $$$$ and wants us back (Philippines).

In the case of the Phillipines they’re being confromted with the reality of a China whose military spokesman have repeatedly made statements that China has a ‘rightful’ claim on the Phillipines because some Chinese guy from hundreds of years ago might have visited them.

Yep, ask puerto rico how their economy is since the US navy pulled out of there.

If they didn’t say this was Turkey, I would have guessed it to be Dearborn Michigan or one of the many U.S. islamist strongholds.
