The number I have heard from people in the business (please don't ask for a source because I won't betray it) say that 70% of medical expenditures are on end-of-life treatments.

During the 2008 campaign, Baraq Obama cited those costs as 80% of the total cost, and then in the very next sentence said that he was going to cut the cost of health care. And seniors actually voted for this!

Any time I hear anyone mention getting hip or knee replacement surgery, I tell them to get it as quickly as possible while they still can. Because there is soon going to be an age cutoff for these procedures.

Meanwhile, Soylent Green stock is on the rise.

There is a very different situation between taking extraordinary heroic measures known the be unproductive and getting a hip joint replacement

Case in point were the extraordinary measures to treat the ebola patient in Texas. That included dialysis that certainly included trashing the machine. All that heroism including endangering the staff of medical and custodial staff was costly wasted effort.

Before end-of-life decisions became litiginous, the doctors usually suggested the situation by the euphemism "comfortable". As in "Would you like me to make him 'comfortable'?"

The family's assent was then followed by a heavy dose of morphine.

My grandfather was a country doctor during the 1910-50 period and attended many deaths in the home. From listening to him, I got the distinct impression that everybody knew exactly what was going on, but were put at ease by the euphemism.

Every one forgets Medicare and Tricare Life (Ret. Military over 65) are totally government controlled, right down to where you can get your daily scripts.

They ration tests, even after you have been diagnosed with a disease. I have drug induced Osteoporosis -3.1 Bone density score. Yet I can only have a bone density test every 2 yrs. You guys that need a PSA yearly, sorry it’s every 2 yrs now. Lots more cuts on test and treatments were added this year. Need a nerve block for your bad back, you are now limited to 3 per year.

Now how is my doctor supposed to keep track of the progress of my OP and my treatment if he can’t run a yearly bone density test? I’m scared to death of the drugs all have FDA warnings on them. Already reacted to Fosamax. So I take hands full of bone vits/mins daily, hoping to at least keep the OP at the current level. Bones are not made of drugs, they are made up of various vits/mins and trace elements. And I sure as heck don’t need to add A Fib, jaw degeneration, A typical femur fracture, and Kidney failure to my already laundry list if health issues.

Medicare/Tricare doesn’t even cover medical necessities like Hearing Aids. That all comes out of your pocket. They do cover things for a diabetics they will NOT cover for people who have the same secondary disease. That person has to pay the total cost of those aids. PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY is not just a diabetic’s disease, many other things cause it, including SHINGLES!

A slow, painful death, courtesy of Obama’s Eugenics Star Chamber. Say what you will about the Nazis, but at least they were efficient about it. Making the trains run on time, no death panels...just the fast track for a Zyklon-B cleansing shower. Sooner or later, the Obamites will admit that their death panel process is just too inefficient and jams up the works. This morning makes the 3rd time in 3 months I have had a call from the Doc canceling scheduled treatment because Humana ‘hasn’t had time’ to process the paperwork.

In my entire life, one filled with medical visits/treatment I have had this problem prior to Obamacare exactly ZERO times. Nah. They aren’t rationing healthcare. Death panel talk is a figment of overactive racist imaginations...

I’m so conditioned to paying out-of-pocket for most things, I pay little attention to the “low cost” medical expenses. Note that I quoted “low cost” understanding any cost can present difficulty.

As far as I’m concerned, the “rationing” is ultimately about aggressive restrictions. And unless one is actively seeking health care market choices, what is no longer possible is not apparent.

The situation is dire in my not-so-humble opinion.
