CNN does great when it comes to disasters like the earthquake in Japan, and they do focus on timely events like the Eobola scare in TX.

I also like the look of their sets and studio when they do election coverage, and I especially like John King and his magic board.

But they they don’t do well is political coverage. I was up late the night and there was story about amnesty and the presenters said that majority of Americans were for it. But today the newscaster was interviewing a lib politician and you could see her face become dismayed when he said that BO should go through unilaterally give amnesty. {What I don’t understand, is don’t these dems understand, BO is taking away their roles?}

I never used to like CNN, but Fox bores me. I won’t watch CNN in the gym, because I don’t want to influence anyone with their ideas, but at home, I’ll watch them, just to see how they are taking things and then report here on FR>

MSNBC makes me nauseous though, but sometimes I’ll watch Morning Joe just to see the varsity team apologist like David Axelrod, Robert Gibbs, and Mark Halperin get the talking points together for the rest of the stenographers for the day.

Got a “Neilson” survey call last week. I told him I don’t do live TV, I have netflix and a DVD player and that’s enough.

He asked me three demographic questions and thanked me for my time. No programming questions.

#58 At youtube I have been watching clips of Red Skelton, Johnny Carson, Groucho Marx, Don Rickles etc. People with talent. I also have Netflix that I watch on my Samsung Galaxy tablet. If I want I can tap a button and the show goes to my wifi enable tv (LG). I also have Amazon Prime and can watch what they have. I also ordered their new device called “Fire TV Stick” (not arriving till December). I have Google ChromeCast too. See any show and click on the app icon and it goes to your wifi enabled tv with 2 hdmi connections using wifi signal from your router. Use with Google Chrome and their plugin (icon appears in upper right corner) Add it back if missing from |||> Settings> Apps> Google Cast)

I use the Leaf tv antenna to pickup local stations and several others like Me-TV, Antenna tv, COZI TV, GetTV (which you thought are only on cable). The antenna is about 12” x 12” and 1/8” thick. It points at the tv stations and you get a clearer picture then the compressed signal the cable company gives you. Here is a listing of stations in your area. http://www.gomohu.com/tv-for-free-front/

In short there are many choices. What tv has going for it is convenience and habit. I am currently paying $134 a month for internet and cable (no movie channels). I used the live chat at Time Warner on Saturday to ask for a lower price but was told to call customer service.... That will mean a wait I suppose to Monday.

I would keep what I have but only if I pay less them half what I am now. I do not like to subsidize all the new sign ups.

It’s a shame that CNN is still foisted on the public at almost all airports. Who decided that?
****************************
I read something here on FR a month or so ago that indicated the reason was because CNN furnished all of the TVs for free and part of the deal was to have them set to CNN.

I don’t know if that’s true, but it might explain the situation.

I was actually embarrassed for Fox News during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Their coverage was that bad.
*******************************
FNC covered the disaster pretty well. It was the idiots that presented the coverage that made it so bad; Shep Smith and Geraldo Rivera!!! I can’t stand either of them and hit the mute whenever they are talking. One light in the loafers and the other an hispanic racist.

AT&T just cut our bill in half rather than canceling. I think $100/mo is not bad for blazing fast fiber-optic broadband internet and cable.

I wish cable was available in my area - would change just for the internet speeds - satellite gives me 10mbs for $84/mo. with a 20Gb cap (10G from 0200 to 0800 and the other 10G are "anytime".
