Baker's gov win -- the one that almost got away

One week longer and Republican Charlie Baker would have been toast.

Now he's the next governor, defeating Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley by a very slim margin. He was lucky.

Baker most likely would not have won had Coakley more time to pound away at his Hemingway-like tale about the woes of a shadowy New Bedford fisherman.

This was the mysterious fisherman who brought Baker to tears during his telling of the story during the closing of their last televised debate

LOL. Talk about sour grapes. Marsha Coakley has proven herself to be such a horrible campaigner that I doubt any amount of additional time would have done her any good. In fact, it would have only deepened her loss.

My parents had not saved a red cent for me to go to college. If the fisherman’s boys had been motivated to attend college, they could have. If they wanted to go be big men on campus, carousing and screwing and drinking on daddy’s dime, he did the right thing telling them no.

If it’s just a parable, well Jesus used parables. But maybe the fisherman retired to someplace affordable unlike Boston or anywhere on the East coast, did ole Martha think of that?

Maybe the boys went to College of the Ozarks where there is no tuition, the kids work their way through.

Awwww....poor Martha, such a poor unknown, she coulda be a contender....

Charlie Baker doesn’t really thrill me either, but hey, nice to at least see another Demon Rat defeat.

Think of all that wasted money, Martha.

“someplace affordable unlike Boston or anywhere on the East coast”

Actually NE Florida, not on the immediate shoreline, is very affordable. So much so, we unhappily attract many of the NE libs looking to “change things here to more like where they came”. Frankly, the area should impose a 1000% sales tax on anyone moving here from the NE. They made it, they can keep it.

oh, well I don’t consider Florida the East coast per se, I consider it the South, and yes, a great place to retire

The untold story of Baker’s win is two fold. 1. He won enough of the vote in the cities to crush Martha’s chances. His strategy paid off big. 2. He won virtually every town outside the western libtard part of the state. Finally the towns won it for the GOP. I finally felt relevant.

You could see this late Tuesday night as the cities had all reported in and Croakley was ahead. Then in came all the towns and Baker kept climbing and climbing, it was a glorious thing to behold.

Also the welfare vote of the inner cities did not vote enough.

I live on the South Shore and I was amazed at how big his win was in virtually every town here. I think Randolph and Canton were the only towns where he didn’t rack up at least 60% of the vote.
I am so glad that we may finally be rid of the odious Coakley.

...of course the depressing part was the fact that we picked up only one representative on the South Shore. I was hoping for three. The GOP needs to recruit better candidates.
