To celebrate this event, I present the following:

Samoans also tend to produce outstanding Marines.
I served with a few way back when. Solid, dependable and highly self disciplined, every one of them that I knew.
Not only big (Polynesian royalty was bred for size) but dangerous to anyone who isn’t aware of their cultural quirks. Looking a Samoan male who’s a stranger to you straight in the eye, I’m told, is a ticket to a hospital or the morgue.
PR’s Resident Commissioner was re-elected to a 4-year term in 2012. His name is Pedro Pierluisi, a member of the pro-statehood New Progressive Party, and he’s a Democrat in national politics. He was hand-picked for the position by his predecessor (and fellow NPP member), Luis Fortuño, who is a Republican in national politics and was elected governor in 2008 but narrowly lost reelection in 2012.
Thanks for the tip. Who knew? I was raised believing to look people in the eye as I spoke was a show of respect.
I’m psyched that Amata defeated the despicable Faleomavaega. Delegates can’t vote on the floor, of course, but they do vote in committee, and I’m sure she’ll do a great job (she has lots of legislative experience through her work as a staffer).
I based that on what I was told by a Canadian friend who lived in Hawaii for a time and is afraid to go back after getting in hot water with some Samoan toughs. Who knows, but I am sure some of them are big enough to dismantle a car (or me) with their bare hands.
The NMI Delegate is a Democrat who ran as an “Independent.” There was no GOP candidate, which was odd.
Yes.
It sucked not having any. We SHOULD have the PR, NMI and Guam seats too with rats having only DC and USVI.
It’s very cool the wave carried all the way to Samoa, though it might have had more to do with the rat’s failing health.
Aumua ran for this ELEVEN times before and finally won this time!
I’m not blown away by the title.
Hard to top “The Empire Strikes Back” in that department.
“Revenge of the Sith” is pretty cool too (IMO anyway). I like the Sith.
But I agree; not Earth-shattering.
Yes that was a good title, too bad the movie wasn’t that good thanks to horrible writing and directing by Luc-ass.
I wonder who the new Sith will be.
Bump
Yep. It was the best of the prequels, but that’s not saying much.
If they were to follow SW cannon, the Sith is still Palpatine. His “Force soul” entered one of the many physical clone bodies he had prepared.
And there was no 30 year time gap either; the main characters had to set up both a new government and New Jedi Order.
That’s why these sequels will not be any better than the prequels, IMHO.
