This is as bad or worse than 2000 with Bush-Algore.

I agree-they intentionally didn’t have any exit polls.

The Mafia is envious of the Rats.

Latest from Red Steel:

Another update 8:23pm

District 31 with 45.4 % votes in.

Carol Beckler REP 10045 49.86%
Joseph A. Salazar DEM 10101 50.14%

and

District 30 with 43.5% votes in.

JoAnn Windholz REP 8438 50.71%
Jenise May DEM 8201 49.29%

How the CO Dims declared victory is beyond me. I highly doubt there were any exit polls for these two races.

My son said his boss voted for Hickenlooper because:

Beauprez is so old. Beauprez is 66, Hickenlooper is 62. Hmmmm.

Hickenlooper handled the floods so well. Remind me again what he did besides fly around in a helicopter and shake a few hands?

Takes all kinds, I guess.

The big local talking head, Mike Rosen, insisted the only way to unite Republicans and win was with Beauprez. Everyone would be so happy with him. Wrong, it appears. It would have been nice if we could have gotten someone comparable to Cory.

From a deleted Aurora Sentinel article.

- - - - - —

“AURORA | Tired election judges, a few thousand write-in votes for surveyor and an unexpected rush of voters late on Election Day mean about 20,000 ballots are still being counted in Adams County.

And those ballots could hold the key to control of the state Senate.

Jim Siedlecki, a spokesman for the county, said Thursday morning election judges have about 10,000 standard ballots left to count as of Thursday morning, as well as another 10,000 that need more scrutiny. Since then, the county has counted another 6,000 ballots, leaving about 14,000 left to count. Officials said another 9,000 ballots need individual scrutiny to determine if they can be counted, and for which races.

Siedlecki said election officials will send out another round of updates around 7 p.m. and resume counting the remainder of ballots in the morning.

That second group includes any ballots that have write in candidates, or over votes, or even ballots that a voter may have spilled coffee on, he said.

“That’s where things could take a little time,” he said.

In Aurora, a once Democratic stronghold is currently going to Republicans. House District 30 Rep. Jenise May, an Aurora Democrat, is trailing Commerce City Republican challenger Joanne Windholz by about 237 votes, as of Thursday evening, according to Adams County election results. The seat has been held by a Democrat for decades.

Updated results released late Thursday showed Winholz’s lead had shrunk by more than 200 votes after an earlier count showed her lead widening.

A key Adams County Senate race still had Republican Beth Martinez-Humenik still led Democrat Judy Solano by about 900 votes as of 8:30 p.m. Whichever party wins that contest will likely take the majority position in the state Senate by one vote.

The gap separating the candidates in House District 30 had shrunk to single digits late Thursday.

State Democratic leadership said they will keep control of the Colorado House without May’s seat because another nail-biter appeared go their way, giving them the 33 seats necessary to claim a majority.

The oft-ignored surveyor’s election in Adams County is slowing things dow, Siedlecki said. Because there were no certified candidates for Adams County surveyor, Siedlecki said many voters wrote in a candidate, which has meant more write-in ballots than is typical.

Siedlecki said the county has a full staff of election judges on Thursday, but that wasn’t the case on Wednesday. After working well into the night on Election Day, Siedlecki said about 25 percent of the county’s election judges didn’t show up Wednesday because they were exhausted. Counting has been faster today, Siedlecki said, because election judges from other counties have chipped in to help.

Also, Siedlecki said, there were more votes cast after 5 p.m. on Election Day than county officials expected, so officials are trying to work through those ballots as well.

“That created a bit of a backlog that we are working to get through,” he said.

State law requires a recount when the margin is .5 percent or less. 15261 was the total in early votes

In House District 31, Republican Carol Beckler leads Democrat Joseph Salazar by just five votes, according to results released at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. That’s down from a 126-vote lead Wednesday night, and the margin of .02 percent would trigger a mandatory recount. ...”
