If the courts continue to uphold the ruling that the Federal Exchange cannot offer subsidies then Obamacare will lose it’s major drawing card. All the GOP has to do then is simply obey the law (yes, a new concept) and de-fund that aspect of Obamacare. That will be a big step.

More precisely, the GOP just needs to not do anything legislatively to fix it. And, in so doing, the court's interpretation of the law stands and the Federal Exchange will be unable to offer subsidies. This will, in effect, de-fund a major aspect of Obamacare.

I think that is more clear, no?

If they did that and repealed the mandate Obamacare would be history. I think they know it and that is why they won’t do it. It’s all politics. If they did it they would lose it as a campaign issue.
Either that or they want Obamacare to stay. Pick your poison.
