I’ll tell you where this goes. Because of the fitness regiment now within the military, especially the SEALs...a guy who reaches early 30’s is like a NFL running back. He’s rundown, got various elements, and physical limitations. You start to get doctor’s notes in your records...and they start talking about NOT letting you extend or re-enlist. So, they simply hint....medical discharge, so you go and spend four months getting the VA to sign off, and you collect $3,100 a month.
If they’d sign off and let you stay in....you’d go to twenty and collect your normal pension (these days 45-to-47 percent, not the old deal of fifty percent, high-three deal). Then you’d take your records to VA, and claim issues....and they’d top off your deal with maybe a fifty-percent-to-one-hundred-percent disability, laying $3,100 on top of the $2,000 retirement pension.
That’s where this is really going. If he were admin clerk, truck mechanic, or intel guy...they’d let him stick around for twenty years and retire, then go for the disability deal after he left. I can’t blame the guy....but the system is made to function this way. You can’t run with the ponies? You medical-retire the guy.
Yep, it's not so mysterious when you consider the DemoRat Socialist left hatred for the Military and how they engineer the system to destroy rather than reward the thin camo line that actually defends the Constitution rather than abusing it.
Interesting. They medically discharged Carlos Hathcock just a few months before his 20 so that he would get a higher payout.
