Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen warned that close to half the people trying to reach the IRS by phone might not get through during the upcoming 2015 tax filing season. Phone service could plummet to 53%, he told an audience of tax practitioners at the AICPA National Tax Conference in Washington, D.C. today. That would be down from an already unacceptable 72% during the 2014 filing season. The average hold time projection: 34 minutes! Whats to blame? Budget woes. All we can do is try to maximize our services as well as we can; as well as we can is still going to be miserable. You really do get what you pay for, he said.
Koskinens remarks followed National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson who was even gloomier: The filing season is going to be the worst filing season since Ive been the National Taxpayer Advocate {in 2001}; Id love to be proved wrong, but I think it will rival the 1985 filing season when returns disappeared.

So does that mean if we give you some more money we can expect Lois Lerner’s emails or are you a lying sack of crap?
Frankly, on the rare times I need to contact the IRS by phone it has not especially been a big deal. And they have been rather helpful. Is it fun, like ha-ha fun? No.
Yeah, they should think about who pays their salaries.
Maybe finally we can get some simplified tax bills through the congress for Obama to sign ( sarc).
Eliminate income taxes.
Instead, fund the government through excise taxes as the founders planned.
Fairtax
I’m not going to file.
I don’t think I’m required.
How bout we just GET RID OF THE IRS ALTOGETHER AND GO TO A FLAT TAX???
Or better yet, eventually go to a national consumption tax to replace the income tax like what I suggest in my tagline?
IRS is the agency best configured to mete out the punishment Obola wants to visit on Americans.
Did they not just recently hire 16,000 IRS employees, did they not recently spend a bunch of money on guns and ammo for IRS employees, but they can’t answer the phone.
I could be wrong maybe they did neither of the above maybe it is all just a rumor.
Is this what Obola was referring to during the presser about “stuff” he can do, such as improving customer service in every agency?
How timely. :o/
I bet their collection squads and audit assassins work PERFECTLY WELL.
One of the real reasons I think tax collections will be way down is because of the heightened unemployment rate / less earnings, excessive inflation in all areas but gasoline and we know why it was kept under control; (self production and tight reins by the WH to prevent civil unrest), and Obamcare penalty suckage creating a situation where people won’t want to file and pay the penalty.
You’re likely right.
Too many of us are hurting.
The IRS commissioner is a commie hack. He needs more money for political audits and cover-ups.
Not a red cent for this POS.
I hear Lois ain’t doing anything
The real reason it will be miserable is this is the first reporting year for Øbamacare. That in itself will melt their phone lines, especially when folks learn about the clawback.

Almost lost everything due to the Muslim Mulatto and his regime. Signs of recovery are on the horizon but I’m going to have to keep on swimming faster to catch the lifeboat. I’ve putting in 12 hour days at times to right this boat, often working Saturdays too...
Call Lois Lerner, she’s full of good IRS direction.
What happens if someday, all of us taxpayers just say NO. We’re not going to file or pay? Afterall it’s a voluntary system.
