New York Was A Slaughterhouse For Congressional Democrats
Business Insider ^ | 11/5/2014 | Colin Campbell

The epicenter for House Democrats' losses Tuesday night was in New York State, where Republicans scored stunning margins or performed better than expected in race after race.

"Roughly a quarter of the House losses nationally occurred in New York," a Democratic insider told Business Insider.

None of the Republican seats Democrats had targeted went their way, even as Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.), the chair of the DCCC, the campaign arm of House Democrats, made a number of those races a priority.

Republicans were more than happy to crow about the results.

"Steve Israel said it himself — 'New York was the center of gravity' — and he was right," Ian Prior, a spokesman for the Republicans NRCC, told Business Insider in a statement. "We started the cycle with Israel and the DCCC looking to pick up 3 seats in New York and it turned out that we were the ones that picked up 3 seats; and we did so with enormous margins in both our challenger races and incumbent races."

There’s a headline you thought you’d never see.

Too bad my district (remember Bob Turner?) didn’t share in the fun. Nobody even bothered to run against the incumbent dem.

The headline is a reference to New York congresswoman Louise Slaughter, who was losing her reelection last night . not sure if its official yet. Remember her from the Slaughter House Rules on the Obamacare debate? She used to be chairman of the House Rules Committee, when they were forcing obamacare through Congress.

Not in my district (Buffalo). Besides Manhattan, this is ground zero for political control by Unions, government employees, nanny-staters and government hand-out recipients in NY State. The Democrat incumbent, Brian Higgins does little besides announcing the occasional big government hand-out, and he is assured 60%+ of the vote.

New York State is a few blue Islands in a see of rural red, run by NY City and the money of crony-capitalist Wall Street and Federal Reserve money printing.

My suggestion to Republicans - if you want to change NY State permanently, when the next Wall Street bubble happens - do NOT do tarp, and do not bail out Wall Street banks. The left-progressive governing elite in NY will not survive such an event.

I was also disappointed in the outcome of the Higgins-Wappner contest; from what I could tell, the GOP Lady (yes, a woman...) wiped the floor with Brian in their debate, but the name recognition of incumbency & dangling Federal funds were too much of an obstacle to overcome.

Cuomo’s loss overall in the Western NY counties he was good to see, and at least helped to deflate his balloon as far as future Presidential ambitions are concerned.

Blood on the streets in Gotham! I can hear the wailing and the gnashing of teeth in the Big Rotten Apple all the way from out here in Flyover Country!

I live in NY24 and was amazed, and delighted, by Katko’s margin of victory. I had no idea until the local paper published a poll a week ago showing Katko ahead that the race was even competitive.

This is one Israel that deserves to be boycotted.

NY is still run by Cuomo, more extreme than Obama. He’s positioning himself to the Left of Hillary.

“Notably, Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) more than doubled his margin of victory this year over 2012 — even though he faced a more experienced opponent, former Councilman Domenic Recchia (D), and had a host of additional troubles. Grimm was indicted last April on 20 counts of alleged fraud and other criminal acts. In January, Grimm drew national headlines when he threatened to throw a reporter off a balcony. But none of that seemed to matter, and Grimm won by about 13%.”

Here you go. Face of the post-Christian wing of the GOP. They’ve grown up and live in heavily leftwing Democrat areas, have put up with the Left’s crap for so long they just don’t care what the Dems do, say or try. They’ll take it and deliver a beatdown when the Dems are finished firing whatever they got. Welcome to Donetsk, USA.

The middle class taxpayer is getting slaughtered in New York!

The middle class in Pennsylvania voted to march off to that same slaughter.
