Tea Party Takes Wendy Davis' Senate Seat, Konni Burton Wins. (Davis lost two elections yesterday)

FORT WORTH, Texas -- It was a major victory for conservatives at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame at the Stockyards when Tea Party favorite Konni Burton (R-Colleyville) won Senate District 10, the state senate district seat that has been occupied by Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) since 2009. Burton's campaign slogan had been "Take Back SD 10" and she took it back surrounded by 200-plus friends, family, and community supporters. Burton was declared the winner with 86,182 votes and 52.19% of the vote. Democratic opponent Libby Willis, who was hand-picked by Davis to fill her progressive pink sneakers, only got 75,030 votes and 45.44% of the vote.

Senate District 10 has been a pivotal race statewide. The Burton win inches Republicans closer to an upper legislative chamber supermajority. According to a rule in the Texas Senate, two-thirds of the 31 member Senate, which equals 21 senators, must agree before a bill gets to the floor for debate. Burton's win gives the Republicans 20 seats and puts that supermajority goal into a visible range.

Closer to home, Burton's victory put Senate District 10 back into the hands of an elected official who shares the conservative values as the majority of its constituents. Throughout her campaign, Burton promised to bring that conservative voice back to the district.

Texas law allowed the abortion witch to run in two races. She lost both. The minor race was to keep her Texas Senate seat but she got the boot there in addition to not winning the Texas governorship

Two time loser!

I know Texas is a more conservative state than many. But, Wendy Davis got a huge rebuke. Politically, how much can liberals/Democrats push this war on women and abortion rights and all that?

I heard in exit polls that Wendy even lost among women in Texas. How do you win elections, when the women whom a war is allegedly being waged on, vote against your ideology that you will protect women from that war????

You can bet Hillary Clintons brain trust (such that it is) is rethinking her Presidential campaign strategy. This election shows it isn't enough to campaign on--- "I am female same as you so vote for me"

I never thought this baby killer would win.all the Dems put so much money into these old hags to win but didn’t..Oh the dems tried their best to get her sorry rear as governor but it did not work..READ BELOW AT SOME OF THEIR TRICKS..

Eric Holder, George Soros funded Common Cause and a Washington Based Civil Rights Lawyer Group – Only Concerned about Discrimination, not Fraud

We have Breaking News that Greg Abbott’s name was not on the ballot in Bexar County, Texas, a county that includes San Antonio. Since both Eric Holder and George Soros are sending monitors to Texas, I’m sure they will clear up this issue quickly. Or maybe they will be there to make sure it isn’t cleared up quickly. I suspect Greg Abbott’s voters are intelligent enough to write his name in and I don’t this will help Wendy Davis, but all of these ‘errors’ seem to favor Democrats.

The George Soros-funded organization Common Cause said it will monitor polling places in 16 different states with the help of a Washington-based civil rights lawyer group.

Common Cause staff and volunteers will spend Tuesday “assisting voters and monitoring the process at polling places” in 16 states, according to an email the group sent to their supporters. ”Three of our staff attorneys will be working at Election Protection headquarters in Washington, DC to help field calls to the… hotline…from voters and election monitors across the country.”

Outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder and billionaire George Soros will be sending Monitors to oversee elections in various states Tuesday, according to two separate reports. On Monday, the Daily Caller said the Soros-funded organization Common Cause will observe voting in 16 states with the help of a Washington-based civil rights legal group. Holder, Truth Revolt said Tuesday, citing The Hill, will send monitors to 18 states to “watch for discrimination against voters.

George Bush the Younger was also allowed to run for reelection to Governor at the same time as he ran for President. He won both, BTW.

When The Star-Telegram Editorial Board glowingly recommended Libby Willis I knew she was wrong for Fort Worth and wrong for Texas.

Maybe Wendy will have the time to go to downtown Fort Worth and have a rat gnaw that thing off her face.

No dennis. Wendy was not in the race for senate district 10. her hand-picked successor was on the ballot, not wendy. Konni Burton beat Wendy’s surrogate, so in that sense you could say that Abortion Barbie lost two races but only in a strictly figurative sense.

sorry sportutegirl but that is incorrect. Texas gubernatorial elections always coincide with the mid-term congressional elections, so Texas governor and US President are NEVER on the same ballot. W ran for reelection as Governor in 1998 and won easily. Then while still sitting as Governor, he ran for President in 2000 and withstood a concerted effort by CBS, CNN, and algore to steal the presidency for the dems in Florida.
