Democrat Billionaire Tom Steyer May Have Blown $74 Million on Elections
Breitbart ^ | 11-4-14 | Wynton Hall

Posted on 11/05/2014 6:58:31 AM PST by bigbob

Democrat hedge fund billionaire and global warming activist Tom Steyer spent $74 million on Tuesday's midterm elections, making him this election season's single-largest donor. Almost $67 million of Steyer's campaign war chest was spent on his super PAC, NextGen Climate Action, reports Forbes.

However, as The Hill points out, Steyer's big money spending spree may garner him one of the hedge fund titan's most middling returns to date.

In Colorado, Steyer's super PAC has spent $7 million against GOP Senate candidate Rep. Cory Gardner and $421,202 for Democrat Sen. Mark Udall. The RealClearPolitics average of polls has Gardner up 2.5%.

In Iowa, Steyer has blown $4.6 million against Republican rising star Joni Ernst and $781,327 backing embattled Democrat Rep. Bruce Braley. Currently, the RealClearPolitics poll average shows Ernst up 2.3 points over Braley.

In New Hampshire, Steyer has thrown $3.7 million against GOP Senate candidate Scott Brown. As of election day, Brown and Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen remain in a statistical dead heat, with Shaheen up just 0.8%.

More broadly, Steyer's goal of making global warming a centerpiece of the midterm elections has clearly failed. According to Gallup, just 2% of Americans cite "environment/pollution" as among the nation's most important problems. As Forbes notes, Steyer originally hoped to raise $100 million, with half of that coming from other donors. In the end, Steyer's fellow rich liberal cronies chipped in less than $4 million.

Don't put that bottle of Schadenfreude away just yet, the good news continues to leak out as the depressed losers tally their misfortunes.

$74 Million with little to show for it is great news. Hopefully Steyer will double-down and blow much more in 2016 pushing his ridiculously stupid climate agenda. The same for Wisconsin Labor Boss Richard Trumpka who now has wasted millions more of his members money failing to unseat Scott Walker.

And I will just do the happy dance once again over all the efforts of Obama, both Clintons, DNC bigwigs, celebs, and the other Smart People who now must watch as even Barack Obama's home state of Illinois ("Land of Blago") now comes under control of a competent business executive Bruce Rauner, who will actually LIVE in the Governor's Mansion in Springfield!

And Mary Burke - sorry you lost your personal $5 million, but you just aren't good enough to beat Scott Walker!

This pretty much puts the lie to the Democrat mantra that we have to "get the money out of politics."

Fact is, you can't buy elections with advertising, no matter how much money you spend, and this proves it.

Tom Steyer, self-deluded liberal billionaire

Tom Steyer’s cash is being used to fund attack ads claiming that the Republican Senate candidates are stooges, but when the spotlight shifts ever so slightly to him, he vehemently denies any comparison between himself — altruistic liberal — and those money-grubbing Koch brothers...

Not necessarily. It depends on the meaning of the word "we".

They mean WE (conservatives) need to get the money out of politics. THEY want to be free to throw around as much money as they can steal from the American people.

LOL!

I wonder if Obama will find a new metaphor. What happened to the RATs yesterday might be more of an “industrial strength powder-coating” ;-)

Good news.

Hopefully George $oreA$$ lost a ton of money on the elections and his attempts to short our economy.

Maybe $oreA$$ needs to fire Obama and Harry Reid.

Even his rich buddies were smarter. For $74 million he should have been able to buy a skidload of Jeanne Shaheens.

Instead he bought a really expensive sign that says “It’s called WEATHER”.

You can bet he stood to make much more if they could get cap and trade or other policies on glubull warming passed.

I have not seen this any place else but heard a little about it on FOX news.

Eric Holder, George Soros funded Common Cause and a Washington Based Civil Rights Lawyer Group – Only Concerned about Discrimination, not Fraud

We have Breaking News that Greg Abbott’s name was not on the ballot in Bexar County, Texas, a county that includes San Antonio. Since both Eric Holder and George Soros are sending monitors to Texas, I’m sure they will clear up this issue quickly. Or maybe they will be there to make sure it isn’t cleared up quickly. I suspect Greg Abbott’s voters are intelligent enough to write his name in and I don’t this will help Wendy Davis, but all of these ‘errors’ seem to favor Democrats.

The George Soros-funded organization Common Cause said it will monitor polling places in 16 different states with the help of a Washington-based civil rights lawyer group.

Common Cause staff and volunteers will spend Tuesday “assisting voters and monitoring the process at polling places” in 16 states, according to an email the group sent to their supporters. ”Three of our staff attorneys will be working at Election Protection headquarters in Washington, DC to help field calls to the… hotline…from voters and election monitors across the country.”

Outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder and billionaire George Soros will be sending Monitors to oversee elections in various states Tuesday, according to two separate reports. On Monday, the Daily Caller said the Soros-funded organization Common Cause will observe voting in 16 states with the help of a Washington-based civil rights legal group. Holder, Truth Revolt said Tuesday, citing The Hill, will send monitors to 18 states to “watch for discrimination against voters.”
