When I say addicts in the park, I mean legalizing all drugs, which is what I am now in favor of. Legalizing marijuana alone is not enough to end the gestapo tactics of the police.
Static caused fires at gas stations are not that frequent, but when they happen... A gas jockey is grounded most of the time and is much better suited to pump gasoline. When a driver exits their ungrounded vehicle they carry varying amounts of static and an untimely discharge can be devastating. Women have the greatest chance of this happening to them. Try being from Oregon and vacationing through a number of states. We aren’t used to pumping our own gas and heaven forbid that we might have to check oil and clean our own windshields. Oregon is the only state that has preserved jobs and has spared the country the extinction of the service station attendant. Your attendants sit behind bullet-proof glass(?) and just take your money. On top of that, just how safe does one feel when one has to expose themself to an unknown public menace? At least in rural Oregon, you know that a small town station attendant is a local, and well known in his area. They can be trusted.
Don't laugh. There will be 7-8 months to prepare (i.e. when retail stores can be legally open for business) and I am actually investigating the tax and regulatory environment right now to see if a good business model can be developed. I have a grower and I have demand,it is just a matter of making the money pencil out. For federal tax purposes there just needs to be multiple business entities in the chain of a single operation in order to sink expenses (i.e. the most you legally can) into deductible areas. State regulation and taxes is the big thing I think.
In Colorado, legit retailers can't beat the black market because of the high state tax burden, but if it is much better in Oregon the wife and I might actually give it a go.
As a lifelong Oregonian I like having other people come and pump my gas, provided they are professional and friendly (and they should be, having easy jobs you can't get just anywhere).
Here in NM I have had to get used to pumping my own and honestly I think it is worth 2 cents more to have someone else do it.
I don't think it should be a mandate though, I think there might be better ways to encourage it in the marketplace.
It’s because of the liberal mandate, that is why I hate it. These damn liberals think they know what is best for everyone.
These smug a-holes in Washington State had their heads up in the air, patting each other on the back when Obama got elected. Now look at the hell we all have to deal with.
The lefties in Seattle protest for a higher minimum wage but then turn around and complain that everything is made in China or that there is a lack of shops in their local neighborhood. They can’t seem to make any connections...
Here in the oil patch in spite of 0 and the Democrats (well partly due to the tanking of the Dollar because of the shovel ready stimulus) we have crazy low unemployment, like 2 or 3 percent, probably if you count only people qualified to work (legal citizens not on drugs) even lower.
You can get $15 to flip burgers down here, or to shove boxes around at Walmart.
