ABC News has declared Democratic Sen. Al Franken beat out Republican Mike McFadden for a seat in the U.S. Senate.
Franken's big advantages in money and name recognition made him the favorite against McFadden. The former "Saturday Night Live" star was seen as a big target for Republicans after he won in 2008 by recount, but this cycle's race never appeared close and Republican-aligned groups invested their millions elsewhere.

Minnesota is hopeless.... Electing this idiot twice...
Any news you get on Mills - Nolan would be appreciated.
Ugh, two more years til my last kid is out of high school and I am moving. Illinois light.
This was announced a while ago.
Some people never learn.
America is so close to a communists dictatorship. Who would thought that Americans would rather live under a dictatorship.
nothing yet...hopefully not a midnight ballot box delivery from the DFL.
I don't have any confidence he was actually elected.
I try to buy gas and supplies in Wisconsin. At least their gas tax goes to roads and not choo choos.
What is sad is that most Americans are LIVs. They have no clue who does what in government - Minnesota should just move to Canada - wouldn’t miss her.
yech
Franken - the senator who never was.....
unbelievable
what causes people to vote like this ?
#2 it was only once. He stole the 1st election. Now I admit the people who did vote for him the 2nd time around are really stupid as he voted for obamacare which is destroying their jobs and healthcare.
I’m genuinely embarrassed for my state. I’m not sure if Dayton or Franken is the bigger idiot. It might be a tie.
That said, McFadden relied on being “not Al Franken” to win election instead of pointing out why Minnesotans should have voted FOR him.
He did nothing to capitalize on Republican anger over Smalley’s election theft in 2008, and listed not a single social issue on his campaign website. I had to ask his campaign where he stood.
In short, a poor campaign run by a candidate facing an eminently defeatable opponent.
Instead of running for POTUS in 2012, Bachmann should have ran for the Senate this year. She may not have won, but her contrast with Franken’s liberalism would have set the stage for a Republican pickup later on.
True..... But the fact it was close enough to steal is itself pathetic
The commies in Minnesota would elect Charles Manson if he had a (D) behind his name.
I have a sister who lives there and votes for people like Franken; their brains are frozen
