....Brandy Clark, an openly gay artist who sings, among other things, about pot-smoking housewives, had almost given up on becoming an artist herself, despite writing hits for The Band Perry, Miranda Lambert and others. But her debut album, "12 Stories," which peaked at number 23 on Billboard's Top Country chart, took her on a slow-burning path to this year's nomination for new artist of the year at the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday.....
"I feel so fortunate to be in a time where I am embraced completely as who I am and I don't have to hide who I am in any way," Clark said. "I hope that we've broken some boundaries and things are changing. I feel very included in the country music community."

Country music doesn’t exist anymore. It’s nice that you can pick up the old real stuff on CDs pretty cheap these days. Country has become no different than hip hop. If you have one CD, you have them all.
George Strait and Alan Jackson....now there was country....
Has Mike gotten his ESPN commentator gig since the DalCows gave him a layoff notice?
You are so correct. Who cares about homosexuality, country music is homogenized. I rarely listen to what’s played now. For women, I thought the issue was being a female artist. I suppose now it’s all about being a gay female artist. Who cares?
Yikes!
Where’s that pic of Bluto’s reaction when Hoover projected Flounder’s mug on the Delta basement wall?
Yup! If it isn’t George Strait, Alan Jackson or Toby Keith, I’m not interested. I’m “old school” and still buy CDs and these are the only artists I support. Still buy CDs of the old stuff though.
That’s NEW country...
Country died after “Urban Cowboy”.
Quite frankly, I don’t care a rat’s a_ _ if someone is gay or not - just don’t stick it in my face. I enjoy country music less these days - too much screaming and too much noise. If the CMA Awards are “pushing the envelope” to make us accept our current pop culture, I’ll take my Alan Jackson’s “A Woman’s Love” CD and I’m gone.
Old school? I think I have an Uncle Dave Macon record around here somewhere. Okeh label, circa 1924.
Isn't that one of the signs of the Apocalypse?
Media Works OT to kill whats left of country music.
Though, frankly, they are a little late. Mass culture killed it already.
My iPod, yeah I’ve still got one of those, is loaded down with pre-1973 Waylon Jennings. Being from Arizona made me a “Nashville Rebel” too. Wasn’t much into the “outlaw” thing though.
In a more civilized time, a person’s sexuality was a private matter, not for public discourse.
My, how far we’ve devolved...

I have no clue who this is. We have Sirius radio in our car, and I have to turn to sports talk because the country music is so awful. Occasionally I can find something decent on the classic country channel (can’t remember the name), but mostly it is junk. I think I will program out the country stations because they are promoting this garbage.
