The unrestricted use of fossil fuels must end soon if the world is to avoid dangerous climate change.
That is the central message of a stark new report from the UN-backed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
The IPCC urges that by 2050, most of the world's electricity must - and can - be produced from low carbon sources.
Fossil fuels, without carbon capture and storage (CCS), should be phased out "almost entirely" by 2100.
It re-states many familiar positions:
Warming is "unequivocal" and the human influence on climate is clear
Since the 1950s the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia
The period from 1983 to 2012, it says, was likely the warmest 30 year period of the last 1,400 years
Warming impacts are already being seen around the globe, in the acidification of the oceans, the melting of arctic ice and poorer crop yields in many parts
Without concerted action on carbon, temperatures will increase over the coming decades and could be almost 5C above pre-industrial levels by the end of this century

I enjoy the fake “bad capitalism” fraud. Basically, the only way to solve this ill feeling....to create a new-but-fake capitalism system, with fraudulent devices that make it work. Fake prices, fake controls, fake delivery, and fake profits. Somewhere in the middle...some wizard-like guy claims to keep it all ontrack, but can never explain why baby diapers cost 10-cents each and a can of beer is $6.
If anyone doesn’t desire capitalism....we have more than enough bridges in America...for all of you to go and live under them. Sing praises to the bridge-peoples, as they show their resolve and courage. Better them....than you.

The UN panel has reached the foot stamping stage again...
I expect fossil fuel use to drop dramatically by 2100. We may be using solar or nuclear (fusion???) to produce compressed or liquid O2 and H2 or some more stable, safer combination artificially to provide the power density of fossil fuels. We may have the world Obama is working toward (no civilization, no technology, and thus no fossil fuel use). I think in any case this problem will solve itself by 2100.
Really? Where is the temperature data covering the last 1,400 years? Preferably, the satellite data, to smooth out some of the drastic local variations in temperature?
You can't make a claim like that without having actual data. And satellites have only existed for a few decades.
Also, the atmospheric content of CO2 has drastically decreased over the existence of the earth. Eventually, there will not be enough CO2 in the air to support life. And those global warming hysteria-mongers want to remove it from the air faster than it is naturally disappearing--perhaps this anti-carbon stuff is a purposeful effort to destroy all life?

I agree. But we can be certain that if/when we transition to alternative fuels there will be an alternative issue used as a wedge / power grab under the guise of “protecting us”.
