A Liberian woman who recently arrived in Portland and was monitoring herself for Ebola symptoms under a voluntary program was whisked to the hospital at mid-day Friday with a high temperature.
She was taken to Providence Milwaukie Hospital, where she is in isolation and being tested for the disease, which is highly infectious and has killed thousands of people in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
"We had hoped this wouldn't happen," said Dave Underriner, regional chief executive for Providence Health & Services. "We've done a lot of work to prepare for an Ebola case."

???? Didn’t I read somewhere that ALL visitors from Liberia could only fly into 5 airports? Portland wasn’t one of them. Something doesn’t ad up here.
OR supports Obumbles and his refusal to ban travel from iebola-nfected countries. They won’t mind kicking in half a million tax dollars to treat this woman.
She probably flew to NYC, then Chicago, followed by a layover in Vegas before landing in Portlandia.
All of these cases will turn into A Boy Who Cried Wolf scenario and fewer people will eventually be checked out for Ebola, who WILL turn out to have Ebola. Not enough controls put in place.

Many diseases have symptoms just like Ebola. Influenza is one of them, and influenza season has already started.
This woman is far more likely to have malaria than Ebola; malaria kills a million people per year.
No, that’s not true. The fact is our guvmint has only set up checking at five airports which are the ones at which the majority (well over half) of people coming from infected areas arrive. There’s no reason to check at other airports because, you know, relatively few people with Ebola arrive at them. I’m sure you can see the sound common sense of this approach.

Again it’s not hysteria driving the interest. If one is confronted by unknowns then not only is it prudent to be pragmatic but desired.
Flu, Malaria all known entities that no longer pose a mass casualty event scenario. Try as u wish to say no Ebola not only offers that.-

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

What would happen is that once they flew into one of those 5 airports without a fever, they are free to board another flight to Hometown USA...

Though reading the back story i would give this a more than likely positive result.
