Why not? I would argue losing this man could be detrimental to national security. His livelihood and rights are at stake. Not to mention his family and what they have gone through.

You’re probably right though, unless his life is at stake. But a good leader certainly would have made the Mexican government feel the squeeze. He didn’t do anything wrong, to be held and used as a bargaining chip. Holding hostages like this is terrorism and should be treated as such.
