Dead Voter's "Signature" Just Like Mom's (San Diego, CA)
San Diego Union Tribune ^ | October 31, 2014 | Joel Hoffmann

Retired Encinitas teacher admits cursive writing on mail ballots similar to hers.

The November 2012 mail ballot cast in the name of Dara Welty carries a signature that looks nothing like hers.

That’s no surprise.

Welty — nature lover, world traveler, opera singer — died in Bolivia in 1998 at age 22. Her home was in Encinitas, where she remains registered to vote to this day.

Since her death, 14 votes have been cast in her name. U-T Watchdog found the suspicious pattern and reported on it in July. The District Attorney’s Office this week determined there was “insufficient evidence” to bring charges on the apparent voter fraud.

The Watchdog on Thursday decided to review evidence available at the county elections office. Registrar of Voters Michael Vu made available redacted copies of certain Welty voting records, the same ones he sent to DA investigators.

Vu also allowed the Watchdog to inspect records from Welty’s mother, Dolores, who still lives at the home where the singer’s mail ballots have been sent. The daughter’s 14 ballots were all cast in the same elections her mother voted in.

The daughter’s actual signature, from a voter registration form filled out in 1993, was scrawled in tightly packed capital letters, with lines on the W and Y reaching up like tree branches.

The signature on her recent voting record were in more expansive cursive. The letters, by her mother’s admission, appear similar to those made by her mother on her own ballot cast in the same election and in her other voter records.

The county District Attorney is a Republican, and had declined to prosecute. Unbelievable!

She died in 1998, and has voted in every election since, and there is insufficient evidence???? I can’t believe this, I just can’t believe it.

I realize that getting a conviction is a different process. But, isn’t there clear evidence of fraud, when a person died in 1998 and is still voting? so how the heck can they say there is insufficient evidence????

You could call Bonnie Dumanis, who is up for re-election, and tell her you are not happy. Dumanis' phone is 619-531-4040.

“Welty, a retired teacher who has given more than $51,000 to Democratic candidates and campaigns, said she was not asked to give a sample for a DNA test.”

This is an indictment of the mother because she has clearly been receiving the mail.
This is an indictment of the people who have been sending out the ballots because they should be culling their lists.
This is an indictment of the DA because he should be enforcing the law.
This is an indictment of the law because we can't be a country "by the people" if votes are not kept sacrosanct.
If voter fraud is considered too insignificant to bother with then "we the people" have no control of our country. Maybe that is the goal of the government.

Why wasn’t she purged from the voter rolls after she died?

OK. I'll grant you that the signatures on Dara Welty's ballots changed drastically after Ms. Welty's death.

I also grant you that Ms. Welty's signature went from stretching capital letters to cursive that closely resembles the handwriting of Dara Welty's mother, Dolores, who has donated $51,000 to the Democrat party.

I'll even grant you that the similarities in handwriting are such that, when confronted with her deceased daughter's signatures on the posthumous ballots, Dara's mother said that the signatures looked just like the her [the mother's] writing.

But, Dilbert, my FRiend, you jump to conclusions. Of course there is insufficient evidence. Somehow, you missed the most obvious and innocent explanation. Dara's mother, Dolores, is aging and uses the late Dara's ballots to practice her handwriting. Use it or lose it.

Some malcontent - perhaps a GOP operative - removed the signed ballot from Dolores Welty's home each election year and fraudulently cast the ballot.

Dolores Welty is pure as freshly driven snow.

There’s probably insufficient evidence to press charges against this individual....even though it is 100% fraud was committed.

This is exactly the problem. There’s no “evidence” of voter fraud...as claimed by the left, only because you can’t prove it and they know it. It exposes their true nature as they know perfectly well that fraud is rampant, but as it benefits them they want the status quo.

She died out of state (in this case, out of the country) and the state never received notice of her death. That’s the excuse/explanation.

It seems like the LEAST that would be done, would be to have the deceased woman’s name removed from the voter registration listings.

Enough of this. They need to make vote fraud a capital offense.

>>It seems like the LEAST that would be done, would be to have the deceased woman’s name removed from the voter registration listings.<<

There is a very simple way of addressing the issue of the dead voting. Pass a federal law requiring the Social Security department to send a public notice to the official county newspaper and to the county clerk of every death within 30 days of being notified of the death. All the notice would have to say is “Died, (date of death), (name of deceased), (age of deceased at death), (address)” along with a brief description of the amount of jail time the current county registrar will serve if the name is not removed from the voting rolls. The public notice in the paper will ensure that names are removed in “Progressive” counties also.

And, for starters, Social Security could send a complete list of all residents in each precinct in the county with the same information, specifying it to be an electronic public record open to general inspection. It would be fascinating to go through Chicago’s listing, by the way.

Plus it would be fun to see how the Dems claim such a law to be “voter suppression” because in their case it most likely would be exactly that.

California "Republicans", like those from NYC and New Jersey are really RAT lite anyway. That DA should be impeached.

In most states they won't even kill child murderers, so good luck with that!

Allow me to surprise you. According to the article: Despite urging by the District of Attorney's office, the mother has not yet canceled the deceased daughter's voter registration. The mother has already received the deceased daughter's ballot for this midterm election.

What? Nobody or state institution can cancel the deceased woman's voter registration without the mother's actions? Either somebody never thought this through when election laws/regs were born or . . . my, my, my . . . somebody thought this through very carefully before election laws/regs were born.

District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis is a LIBERAL Republican. She is a lesbian who is “married” to another woman. She probably registered as a Republican in order to get votes in the conservative areas of San Diego County. If Dumanis wanted to, she could get a DNA sample from the dead voters mother and compare it to the DNA on the adhesive seal of the mailed in ballot.

Unfortunately Dumanis was recently re-elected to another four year term. She received over 50% of the vote in the primary. Right after she won re-election a lot corruption in her office has been exposed.
