Skipping or simply saying no to these meetings is a legitimate thing to do.

The editorial board members of most newspapers are not even from the town where the paper is published. They might live there now, but they are not “from there” as in born and raised and thus have no ties to the community. And when a better gig comes along they are out of there like the Road Runner.

There is no reason to kiss the ring or any other part of their anatomy.

Gary Hartpence on Cory Gardner:

For you to conclude that Mr. Gardner will be anything other than a consistent vote for a Tea Party dictated agenda on the major social and economic issues of the day is confounding.

Best endorsement I've heard in a long time. I love the way the Captain of the Monkey Business talks about the need for "serious" Senators.

Smart lady. I can think of a million better ways to spend her time than answering questions from condescending leftist twits.

I hadn’t heard about this but I’m not surprised no Iowa newspaper has picked up on it. (Regarding Bruce Braley's WHO no-show.)

I hadn't heard about it either, but after all, (voice going into NPR fry mode) "Register readers are sophisticated intellectuals, while WHO listeners are ignorant rubes."

My mother met Joni Ernst this week, and was very, VERY impressed by her. This is coming from a woman who put in about 40 years worth of solid GOP work and who has met most of the candidates during that time.

The WSJ being one of the most leftist newspapers in existence. Except for its pro-amnesty libertarian editorials

There are a number of Iowa politicians who pass on WHO radio talk show appearances, Tom Harkin among them.

I would have guessed that sort of thing would be common everywhere.

Joni is right square with me on (more or less) flipping the bird to the Register.

My first thought on hearing that Joni snubbed the Stalinist Register was that it makes Grassley and King look like wimps.

She went against her own campaign advisers and resolutely maintained her pro-life stand, and then did not back away from the Second Amendment when given a last minute opportunity. Her Rove-Romney backers may get a surprise!

I remember David Oman, Gov. Ray's press secretary, saying “the Register sets the agenda,” for the state and the Ray administration...

These days, the Register is only reliably distributed in about 10 counties around Des Moines.

Lots of old folks still get it, but by mail. Even sharp old Democrat geezers outside of the metro scratch their heads in wonder at Rekha Basu!

The Gannett Company left a little secret behind when they moved out of their original downtown building. The lower floor, slightly below street level, was where their massive Goss presses were located. It is awash with decades of spilled ink product and related pollution.

Joni’s latest ad. I NEVER donate to politicians, but I have to Joni, Scott Walker and Mia Love this time around. I’m in it to win it! *SMIRK* (Lard-@ss Hillary! said that. Fat lot of good it did, LOL!)
